Vietnam imported 7.22 million tonnes of petroleum in 8 months

According to the data from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's imports of petroleum of all kinds in August of 2023 reached 1.1 million tonnes, up by 19% compared to the previous month with a value of 992 million USD, an increase of 36.8 % (corresponding to an increase of 267 million USD).
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam imported 7.22 million tonnes of petroleum of all kinds, with a value of 5.88 billion USD, an increase of 22.2% in volume but a decrease of 5.5% in value compared to the same period of 2022.
Of which, the amount of imported diesel reached more than 4 million tonnes, an increase of 18.5%, accounting for 55% of the country's imported petroleum of all kinds.
The amount of imported gasoline reached 1.48 million tonnes, an increase of 38.4% over the same period last year and accounting for 20% of the country's imported gasoline of all types.
In terms of markets, the amount of imported petroleum of all kinds into Vietnam in the first 8 months of 2023 increased sharply in most main markets.
Specifically, imports from South Korea were 2.94 million tonnes, an increase of 24.7%; from Singapore 1.74 million tonnes, an increase of 110.1%; from Malaysia 1.27 million tonnes, an increase of 56%; from China 629,000 tonnes, an increase of 12.2% over the same period of 2022.
According to the latest statistics figures of Vietnam Customs, the total value of import and export of goods of the country in August of 2023 reached 62.08 billion USD, an increase of 8.8% compared to the previous month, equivalent to an increase of 5.01 billion USD.
Totally in the first 8 months of 2023, the total import and export value of the country reached 436.44 billion USD, down by 12.8%, equivalent to a decrease of 64.21 billion USD compared to the same period last year.
Of which, exports reached 228.17 billion USD, down by 9.8%, corresponding to a decrease of 24.79 billion USD, and imports reached 208.27 billion USD, down by 15.9%, corresponding to a decrease of 39.42 billion USD. .
Thus, in the first 8 months of 2023, the country's trade balance of goods had a trade surplus of 19.9 billion USD.
