Exports to Japan reached 6.3 billion USD in first 3 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in March 2025, Vietnam's export turnover to the Japanese market reached more than 2.2 billion USD, up by 11.3% over the previous month.
In the first 3 months of 2025, it reached 6.3 billion USD, up by 12.4% over the same period last year.
With a population of more than 126 million people, Japan is a market with large import and consumption demand for fish and processed fish products, shrimp, eel, meat, meat products, soybeans, cereal products, fresh and processed vegetables, coffee, etc.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is considered a country with strengths in the above-mentioned products and has the ability to supply well to the Japanese market.
Leading the export turnover in the first 3 months of 2025 were textiles and garments reached 1.07 billion USD, up by 11.8% over the same period last year, accounting for 16.7% of the export proportion; means of transport and spare parts reaching 788.8 million USD, up by 9.7%, accounting for 12.3%; the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reaching 643.7 million USD, accounting for 10% of the export proportion.
Some items with export turnover growth in the first 3 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, such as phones of all kinds and components increased by 49.4%; coffee increased by 52.5%; confectionery increased by 50.3%; coal of all kinds increased by 8 times.
Highly appreciating the potential for trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, especially in relation to agricultural products and food, according to experts from Japan, Vietnamese agricultural products and food are increasingly welcomed by Japanese consumers.
