DAILY: Vietnamese rice prices slightly decreased on January 23, 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, rice prices on January 23rd have slightly decreased by 100 VND/kg for raw rice. Trading activity has been sporadic, with a reduced rice supply entering the market.

For rice products, as updated by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang Province:
  • Raw OM 380 rice has decreased by 100 VND/kg, ranging from 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg.
  • Finished OM 380 rice ranges between 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg.
  • Raw IR 504 rice has decreased by 100 VND/kg, priced at 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg.
  • Finished IR 504 rice ranges from 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.
By-products:
The price of by-products fluctuates between 5,600 - 7,300 VND/kg. Specifically:
  • Fragrant broken rice increased by 100 VND/kg compared to earlier this week, priced between 7,100 - 7,300 VND/kg.
  • Dry bran decreased by 100 VND/kg, ranging from 5,600 - 5,700 VND/kg.
Local Market Updates:
  • At Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), trading activity is slow, with warehouses purchasing minimal amounts. Fragrant rice is being purchased sporadically, while other varieties experience slower trading, with prices relatively stable.
  • At Sa Dec (Dong Thap), rice supplies have decreased, and raw rice prices remain unstable as some large warehouses have closed early for the Tet holiday.
  • At Sa Dec Market Channel (Dong Thap), supply has dropped, warehouses are purchasing slowly, and the price of rice remains firm.
  • At An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), trading is sluggish, with market warehouses buying less as Tet approaches, maintaining stable prices.
Retail Market:
Rice prices at retail markets remain unchanged compared to yesterday:
  • Regular rice: 16,000 - 17,000 VND/kg.
  • Nang Nhen rice: 28,000 VND/kg.
  • Nang Hoa rice: 21,500 VND/kg.
  • Long-grain fragrant Thai rice: 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.
  • Huong Lai rice: 22,000 VND/kg.
  • Jasmine fragrant rice: 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg.
  • Standard white rice: 17,500 VND/kg.
  • Fragrant Taiwanese rice: 21,000 VND/kg.
  • Soc rice: 18,000 VND/kg (regular), 21,000 VND/kg (Thai variety).
  • Japanese rice: 22,000 VND/kg.
Rice Crop Prices:
Prices remain steady compared to yesterday. According to An Giang's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development:
  • IR 50404 (fresh): 5,500 – 5,700 VND/kg.
  • OM 5451: 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg.
  • OM 18 (fresh): 7,600 - 7,800 VND/kg.
  • Dai Thom 8 (fresh): 7,600 – 7,800 VND/kg.
  • OM 380: 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg.
  • Japanese rice: 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg.
  • Nang Hoa 9: 9,200 VND/kg.
Regional Insights:
  • In Hau Giang, some areas have a low supply of rice harvested near Tet. Farmers are hesitant to sell despite traders offering prices.
  • In Dong Thap, farmers are offering more rice, but trading remains slow with stable prices.
  • In Can Tho, demand is low, trading is limited, and traders are only making small purchases of pre-Tet harvested rice.
  • In Kien Giang, post-Tet rice offerings are scarce, with farmers reluctant to sell.
  • In Soc Trang, early winter-spring rice crops are slowly appearing, but trading remains slow with minimal price changes.
Export Market:
Vietnam's rice export prices have slightly decreased compared to the start of the week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA):
  • 5% broken rice: 417 USD/ton.
  • 25% broken rice: 390 USD/ton.
  • 100% broken rice: 322 USD/ton.
