National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai underscored Vietnam's commitment to harnessing technology for better auditing practices while addressing the 8th meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Big Data (INTOSAI WGBD) in the northern province of Ninh Binh on September 10.
Hai said the Vietnamese State audit development strategy until 2030, issued by the NA Standing Committee, aims to bolster the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of auditing activities. Central to this vision is the rapid adaptation to new technologies, particularly big data and artificial intelligence (AI), and ensuring transparency, openness and accuracy in auditing processes. Additionally, the strategy seeks to elevate the professional and technical capabilities of auditors.
Hosting this event is a bold decision by the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV), Hai declared. He expressed confidence that the active participation of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) would yield valuable practices and lessons, enhancing the operational capabilities of SAIs, including the SAV. This, in turn, would contribute positively to the development of their respective countries and the broader international community.
SAV Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan highlighted the agency's groundbreaking initiatives, including the development of a database architecture for the sector, integrated IT infrastructure, and a state-of-the-art data centre. These advancements align with Vietnam's broader digital transformation efforts and herald a new era in auditing, powered by AI and innovative methods, he said.
The meeting featured the largest number of speakers in the history of INTOSAI WGBD gatherings, reflecting the growing importance of big data in auditing. It also served as a bridge to foster cooperative relationships between the SAV and INTOSAI WGBD members, as well as between Vietnam and numerous countries globally./.
