According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in December of 2024, the country imported 429,891 tonnes of fertilizer, equivalent to 124.34 million USD, with an average price of 289.2 USD/tonne, down by 9.5% in volume, down 20.8% in turnover and down by 12.6% in price compared to November of 2024. Compared to December of 2023, it decreased by 3.9% in volume, 17.9% in turnover and 14.6% in price.
In general, in 2024, the country's imported fertilizer volume reached over 5.25 million tonnes, worth of over 1.71 billion USD, the average price reached USD/tonne, up by 27.2% in volume, up by 21% in turnover but down by 4.9% in price compared to 2023.
China was still the leading fertilizer supplier to Vietnam, accounting for 44.9% of the total volume and 43.2% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country, reaching over 2.36 million tonnes, equivalent to 739.65 million USD, the average price is 313.8 USD/tonne, up by 15.8% in volume and 11.6% in turnover compared to 2023 but down slightly by 3.6% in price.
The Russian market ranked second, accounting for 10.4% of the total volume and 13.3% of the total turnover, with 547,705 tonnes, equivalent to 228.6 million USD, the average price was 417.4 USD/tonne, up by 89.7% in volume, up by 73% in turnover but down 8.8% in price compared to 2023.
Fertilizer imports from the South Korean market reached 230,346 tonnes, equivalent to 87.39 million USD, the price was 379.4 USD/tonne, up by 72.8% in volume, up by 34.2% in turnover but down by 22.3% in price compared to 2023, accounting for 4.4% of the total volume and 5.1% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country,
In general, in 2024, fertilizer imports from most markets increased compared to 2023.
