HCM City: Hosts int’l beauty exhibition
More than 2,000 domestic and international brands in the cosmetic and beauty industry are showcasing products and technologies at the Vietbeauty & Cosmobeauté Vietnam 2024 that kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on July 25.
The annual beauty trade show attracted 600 exhibitors from 20 countries and territories, including France, Italy, Japan, Spain, China, the Republic of Korea (RoK), and India, among others. The event serves as a valuable platform for retailers, product suppliers, and service providers to connect with high-quality brands, exchange cutting-edge technologies, and catch the latest beauty trends from around the world.
Products on display include those on skin care and personal care, make-up and tool accessories, beauty health supplements, food and beverages, nailcare and haircare products and equipment, medical aesthetic product and equipment, cosmetics and personal hygiene, and packaging and processing equipment.
Binh Dinh: Investment opportunities from Germany, France
A delegation from the south central province of Binh Dinh led by Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Kim Toan paid a working trip to Germany and France to explore investment opportunities from July 17-22, reported the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.
The trip included working sessions with Vietnamese ambassadors in both countries. In Germany, the delegation attended an investment and trade promotion seminar co-hosted by Becamex IDC Corporation and the Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade of Germany (BWA).
They explored economic models in Berlin, visited hi-tech, green and biotechnology companies at the Adlershof Technology Park, and studied management practices at The Drivery GmbH, Siemens Group, the Electrolyzer and Hydrogen Gas production plant, and the wastewater treatment plant of Nordic Water, a Sulzer brand.
Vietnam, Cuba: Cooperation between construction businesses
Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi held talks with Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana in Hanoi on July 23, aiming to review the implementation of agreements on cooperation in construction in line with the minutes of the 41st meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee signed in Cuba on April 15 and exchange contents that need to be promoted in the coming time.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has provided support for the Dinvai Vietnam Co.Ltd, a Cuban enterprise operating in Vietnam, to obtain a certificate in the field of civil construction, Nghi said, adding that the ministry is working to help the company acquired another in the field of infrastructure and transportation.
Besides, the Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (LILAMA) sent a delegation to the Caribbean country to study the status of some cement factories as well as provide advice for Cuban partners on the renovation and upgrade of a number of machinery and equipment to modernise production lines and improve productivity, he said.
Vietjet, Airbus: Deal for 20 A330neo aircraft valued at 7.4 billion USD
Vietjet and Airbus on July 22 officially signed a contract for the purchase of 20 new-generation wide-body A330neo (A330-900) aircraft, totaling 7.4 billion USD by the manufacturer’s list price, at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 in the UK.
The contract signing ceremony was witnessed by Vietjet Chairwoman Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Airbus CEO of the Commercial Aircraft Business Christian Scherer.
This represents one of the largest deals at this year's airshow. The newly-ordered aircraft will be deployed for Vietjet's growing long-haul services as well as on routes with high demand in the region. They are slated to replace Vietjet's current fleet of A330-300 and support the airline's strategic plan to expand its intercontinental flight network.
Long An: Calls for more Singaporean investments
Chairman of the People’s Council of Long An province Nguyen Van Duoc on July 16 noted his hope that Singaporean businesses will work to form industry - innovation – urban area - service - high-tech ecosystems in the Mekong Delta locality.
Receiving Singaporean Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Pang Te Cheng, Duoc said as a gateway between the country’s southern biggest economic hub and southwestern provinces, Long An has potential for comprehensive economic development thanks to high-tech agriculture and tourism advantages.
Singapore now ranks first among the about 40 countries and territories investing in Long An, with 62 projects worth over 4 billion USD, mainly in electricity, garment-textile, manufacturing and processing, real estate, and warehouse, according to the official.
Can Tho: Korean Energy Agency seeks investment opportunities 
Ha Vu Son, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, on July 18 received a delegation of the Korean Energy Agency (KEA) led by its President Lee Sang-hoon who came to seek investment opportunities in the city.
The KEA President said that the Republic of Korea (RoK) is making continuous efforts to support the establishment of a sustainable energy system in the international community and contribute to achieving global carbon neutrality. As part of those efforts, the KEA has implemented many projects abroad over the past 10 years to support climate change response and economic growth in other countries including Vietnam.
