Vietnam - Thailand trade exchange in 4 months of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in the first 4 months of 2024, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Thailand reached over 6.18 billion USD, down by 1.07% compared to the same period of 2023.

The exports to Thailand in the first 4 months of 2024 reached more than 2.63 billion USD, up by 9.7% over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's imports of goods from Thailand in the first 4 months of the year reached nearly 3.55 billion USD, down by 7.84% compared to 4 months of 2023.
Vietnam's exports of goods to Thailand in April and the first 4 months of 2024
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of goods to the Thai market in April of 2024 reached 525.1 million USD, down by 16.6% compared to the previous month. Totally in the first four months of this year, the country’s exports of goods to Thailand reached 2.63 billion USD, up by 9.7% over the same period last year.
Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest export market in ASEAN, accounting for 23% of Vietnam's total export turnover to the bloc.
Vietnam exported to Thailand 36 main products in the first 4 months of 2024, of which 6 export products were worth from 100 million USD. The item with the largest turnover belongs to the electronic goods group, including phones and components reaching 351.1 million USD, down by 10.3% over the same period last year, accounting for 13.3% proportion. The next was crude oil, reaching 316.4 million USD; increased by 49%; accounting for 12% proportion; and then the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reaching 301 million USD, accounting for 11.4% of export proportion.
Some product groups exported to Thailand increased in the first 4 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, including chemical products increased by 211.3%; plastic products increased by 150.5%; fruit and vegetable products increased by 94.9%; and coffee increased by 146.2%.
Vietnam's imports of goods from Thailand in April and the first 4 months of 2024
Vietnam’s imports of goods from Thailand have reached nearly 3.55 billion USD, down by 7.84% compared to the first 4 months of 2023. Particularly in April of 2024, the turnover decreased by 4.06% compared to March of 2024, reaching 939.41 million USD and also decreased by 1.95% compared to April of 2023.
Vietnam had a trade deficit of 911.08 million USD with Thailand in the first 4 months, down by 37.05% over the same period of 2023.
The largest group of imported goods from Thailand was computers, electronic products and components, reaching over 389.98 million USD, accounting for 11% of the total import turnover of all types of goods from this market, a sharp decrease of 41.83% compared to 4 months of 2023.
The group of household electrical appliances and components imported from Thailand ranked second in turnover, reaching over 326.73 million USD, accounting for 9.2% of the total turnover, a sharp increase of 41%. The next was the group of machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with over 272.66 million USD, accounting for 7.7% of the total turnover, down by 4.26%; CBU cars reached over 266.49 million USD, accounting for 7.5%, down by 51.1%.
