Bamboo and rattan products export up by 23.3% in 9 months

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam raked in nearly 420.14 million U.S. dollars from exporting bamboo and rattan products between January and September this year, witnessing a year-on-year increase of 23.3 percent, according to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs on October 14.
In September 2020 only, the export of this commodity group reached US$54.71 million, down 2.7% compared to August 2020 but sharply increasing by 59.3% compared to September 2019.
Between January and September this year, the U.S was Vietnam’s biggest importers of bamboo and rattan products, accounting for 37% of the total, reaching 155.23 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 60.7% over the same period in 2019.
It was followed by the EU market with $396.01 million USD, accounting for 28.6%, up 12.3%. Export to Japan market reached 43.25 million USD, down 14.9% over the same period.
In general, in the first 9 months of 2002, the export of rattan and bamboo to most markets increased in turnover over the same period, in which a sharp increase in some markets such as Belgium (increased by 118.9%); Poland (increased 41.2%); Sweden (increased 37.9%). In contrast, exports fell sharply in some of the following markets: Austria decreased by 96.2% to $0.04 million; Taiwan decreased by 24.8% to 3.53 million USD.
