AsemconnectVietnam - China is Vietnam's second largest export market and the only major export market to achieve high growth in the first month of 2025.
The latest report from Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that in January 2025, export turnover from Vietnam to China reached 4.6 billion USD, up 25.2% over the same period last year. Exports to China are a bright spot in the context of export turnover to other major markets all decreasing (exports to markets such as the EU, ASEAN, Japan, and South Korea decreased by: 12.6%; 14%; 8.9%; 6.9%, etc., respectively).
On other hand, China is the largest market supplying goods to Vietnam with import turnover from this market estimated at 11.6 billion USD, down 2.2% compared to the same period in 2024 and accounting for 38.6% of total import turnover of goods of the whole country.
Vietnam - China trade reached a new record of 205 billion USD in 2024, of which Vietnam imported about 144 billion USD from this market. With this result, China has become the first trade partner that our country has established a scale of over 200 billion USD.
Import and export goods between the two countries are diverse and rich, from agricultural products to raw materials, electronics, consumer goods, etc.
Currently, China continues to be our country's largest trading partner, accounting for 26% of import and export turnover in 2024.
In recent years, despite the gloomy global trade context, Vietnam's import and export growth with China has still increased strongly. Strong recovery in trade in goods since the beginning of 2024 has brought import and export activities to a continuous boom, especially strong increase in imports of input materials and machinery and equipment from China.
