PV PIPE – A leading steel pipe producer in Vietnam

 Wednesday, November 12,2014

AsemconnectVietnam - With a good investment environment and effective business-supporting policies, Tien Giang is considered a potential ground for all companies, including PetroVietnam Steel Pipe Joint Stock Company (PV PIPE).

Since its establishment, PV PIPE has continuously developed its business operations, expanded the market share and improved product quality to gradually realize its goal of becoming a leading steel pipe producer for the oil and gas industry in Vietnam.

As a member of PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV Gas), an affiliate of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), PV PIPE was established in 2010 to operate an oil and gas steel pipe fabrication factory in Soai Rap Oil and Gas Services Zone in Tien Giang province. With an annual output capacity of 100,000 tonnes, this is a first modern large-scale steel pipe factory in Vietnam that directly manufactures welded steel pipes using 3-Roll Bending technology that meets the strict American Petroleum Institute standards (API standards).

According to CEO Tran Dang Thuyet, the plant will supply directly welded steel pipes to Con Son 2 gas pipeline project, Block B - O Mon gas pipe line project, and other oil and gas pipeline projects in Vietnam. The mill will also seek to export its products to the region and the world. It will manufacture structural steel tubes for production platforms, technological platforms, drilling rigs and other structures.

This plant will also replace imports, thus helping save a handsome amount of money for Vietnam each year. It will help PetroVietnam take a new significant step in developing supporting industries in general and create new momentum for Soai Rap Oil and Gas Services Industrial Zone in particular. This affirms an effective and spectacular transition after PetroVietnam took over the incomplete Soai Rap Shipbuilding Industrial Park from Vinashin. The zone was rapidly transformed into an oil and gas service industrial zone.

In 2014, PV PIPE’s entire resources manufacture steel pipes for the upgrading and expansion of Bach Ho oilfield and the first phase of Nam Con Son 2 gas pipeline project. These are two key national oil and gas projects which demand up to 50,000 tonnes of steel pipes of API 5L X65 PSL standards.

CEO Tran Dang Thuyet said, to achieve the current results, in addition to creating high-quality products, PV PIPE always focuses on customer care, right from the introductory stage to product supply and maintenance. Technicians and sale staff always actively and quickly support customers when they have any request and all processes are in line with API standards. At the same time, the company is trying to develop its product introduction and distribution networks by building and establishing domestic and overseas representative agents in order to enhance the quality of product and customer care services.

Besides, to minimize risks, prevent injuries and occupational diseases, and mitigate pollution, PV PIPE has set up and maintained standards for occupational health, safety and environment management systems under ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards to meet legal and other requirements in production and business activities. The company also actively improves the living quality of its employees by building residential zones for employees. Besides, the firm set up the PV PIPE Gold Heart Society to present it in charity and thanksgiving events.

In the next time, PV PIPE expects to continue receiving cares of authorities in Tien Giang province to develop its operation.
