Sunday, March 8,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company (FMC) recently announced its consolidated operating results for February 2026, showing a sharp decline compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the extended Lunar New Year holiday falling in February.
Specifically, the production of finished shrimp reached 898 tons, down 53% , the production of finished shrimp reached 898 tons, down 53% compared to the same period; the production of finished agricultural products reached 53 tons, down 21%. In terms of consumption, the production of finished shrimp reached 951 tons, down 47%, while the production of finished agricultural products reached 77 tons, down 19%.
Therefore, Sao Ta's overall sales for the month reached US$10.9 million, down 48% compared to the same period last year. According to the company, this year's extended Lunar New Year holiday, concentrated in February, significantly impacted production, processing, and delivery activities.
Thus, in the first two months of 2026, Sao Ta's total sales reached approximately USD31.3 million.
Regarding shrimp farming, FMC stated that it has completed stocking at the old farming area and is preparing to stock at the new farming area, laying the foundation for the following months.
Previously, on February 17, 2026, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) officially announced the final results of the 19th administrative review (POR19) of the anti-dumping duty order on frozen warmwater shrimp from Vietnam for the period February 1, 2023 – January 31, 2024. The final duty rate was determined to be 4.58%.
Sao Ta assessed that although the POR19 result was unfavorable compared to the duty rates of its competitors, it still offered some reassurance because Vietnamese shrimp still retained its market share in the United States. What makes us optimistic is the future, when the POR20 tax rate results are available at the end of this year, and it is assessed that this tax rate will improve significantly.
