Vietnam's imports of goods from Italy in 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's total import turnover from the Italian market in 2025 reached US$2.044 billion, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2024.

In December of 2025 alone, the total import turnover reached US$221.6 million, an increase of 23.04% compared to November of 2025, showing a clear acceleration in imports from Italy towards the end of the year.
Main import items from Italy to Vietnam in 2025
Machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts continued to hold the leading position with import turnover in 2025 reaching US$509.03 million, an increase of 9.38% compared to 2024 and accounting for 24.89% of Vietnam's total import turnover to the Italian market. In December of 2025 alone, the import value of this product group reached US$65.87 million, a sharp increase of 57.11% compared to November of 2025, indicating relatively stable and increasing demand from the Italian market for Vietnamese industrial products.
Pharmaceuticals continued to be an important import group from Italy, with the total import value of US$307.27 million in 2025, an increase of 1.55% compared to 2024 and accounting for 15.03% of total import value. However, in December of 2025 alone, pharmaceutical imports only reached US$25.03 million, a decrease of 20.18% compared to December of 2025.
For textile, garment, leather, and footwear raw materials, the import turnover in 2025 was estimated to reach US$236.72 million, an increase of 5.41% compared to 2024 and accounting for 11.58% of total imports from Italy. In December of 2025 alone, the turnover of this product group increased by 27.31% compared to November of 2025, indicating improved demand for imported raw materials as the textile, garment, and footwear industries gradually recover.
Besides the key product groups, several other industrial goods also recorded positive growth in 2025. These include fabrics of all kinds, reaching US$153.17 million, an increase of 5.1% compared to 2024 and accounting for 7.49% of total turnover, with a strong increase of 55.54% in December of 2025 compared to November of 2025. The imports of iron and steel products reached US$41.10 million, an increase of 24.98%; while imports of computers, electronic products and components reached US$40.72 million, a sharp increase of 138.19% compared to 2024, although the proportion remains modest.
In addition, imports of household electrical appliances and components reached US$8.99 million, an increase of 67.03%, showing potential for expansion in technology and consumer goods.
However, some product groups recorded decreased compared to the previous year, notably chemical products (down by 7.76%), wood and wood products (down by 56.8%), pharmaceutical raw materials (down by 35.7%), and various types of paper (down by 17.3%).
By the end of 2025, imports of goods from Italy to Vietnam were estimated to maintain relatively stable growth, driven mainly by industrial goods, machinery, and raw materials. The import structure tended to diversify, with electronics and technology products recording high growth rates.
