Nearly 300 players compete at Super 100 Badminton Tournament in Vietnam

AsemconnectVietnam - On the opening day, Vietnam’s Vu Thi Trang played the first match for the host country, defeating Indonesia’s Aashi Rawat 2-1, marking an encouraging start for the home team.
The Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open 2025 officially kicked off on September 9 at Nguyen Du Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together nearly 300 players from 20 countries and territories.
The tournament, part of the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) prestigious Super 100 series, runs from September 9-14 with a total prize pool of 110,000 USD.
In the men’s singles, the draw features strong contenders such as Japan’s Takuma Obayashi, Indonesia’s Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, and Vietnam’s Nguyen Hai Dang, seeded seventh and seen as the country’s main hope. In the women’s singles, defending champion Nguyen Thuy Linh, top seed of the tournament, is aiming for her fourth consecutive title after victories in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
