 Wednesday, August 27,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Enterprises and industries are accelerating production, expanding markets and adapting policies to meet 2025 export target, contributing to export growth target in 2025.

Focusing on final stage
In the first 7 months of 2025, Vietnamese textile and garment industry continued to record positive signals with export turnover reaching over 26.33 billion USD, an increase of 5.3 billion USD (equivalent to 9%) compared to the same period in 2024.
Currently, Vietnamese textile and garment has expanded its market to 132 countries and territories. Mr. Truong Van Cam, Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas), said that in addition to traditional markets such as the US, EU, Japan, Korea, etc., businesses are focusing on potential markets such as China (high-value goods), Canada, Russia, UK, ASEAN, etc. On other hand, textile and garment industry is also developing domestic raw materials to proactively supply and meet origin of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to enjoy tariff benefits.
Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association said that fruit and vegetable exports are recovering strongly after a decline at the beginning of the year, opening up expectations for further acceleration in the last months of 2025. Businesses are focusing on improving quality, diversifying products and markets, and restructuring production and making the supply chain transparent to enhance the position of the Vietnamese fruit and vegetable industry.
Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is stepping up to remove obstacles and promote durian exports; Improve compliance with plant quarantine and food safety regulations; promote trade, increase exports of fruits that have been officially exported and have advantages such as fresh coconut, dragon fruit, jackfruit, banana, watermelon, mango, longan, mangosteen, lychee, rambutan, passion fruit. At the same time, the industry focuses on improving quality, standardizing packaging facilities, fully meeting requirements of import markets. In addition to existing major markets, ASEAN, EU, Japan and Korea continue to be identified as potential destinations for Vietnamese vegetables and fruits. Attracting buyers to Vietnam
With assessment that opportunities and challenges are intertwined from now until the end of this year and in the coming time, to ensure implementation of economic growth target of 8.3 - 8.5% in 2025, creating a foundation for double-digit growth in the 2026 - 2030 period, in Official Dispatch No.133/CD-TTg dated August 12, 2025, the Prime Minister requested to promote growth in all three sectors of industry - construction, agriculture - forestry - fishery and services, maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure major balances of the economy.
At the ''Conference to promote agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in 2025'' organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on August 12, on side of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyen Anh Son, Director of Import-Export Department, said that Ministry continues to strengthen control against smuggling, trade fraud and origin fraud; Strengthen trade defense measures and anti-dumping measures through the Trade Defense Department; coordinate with ministries and branches to take advantage of strengths to make breakthroughs.
Ministry of Industry and Trade is coordinating negotiations and opening new markets such as the Gulf region, the Halal market, Egypt, etc. Recently, Import-Export Department went to Singapore to negotiate rice exports. Previously, two Ministries of Industry and Trade and Agriculture and Environment regularly coordinated to organize fairs and promote trade, typically Fruit Fair in Beijing and monthly online conferences with trade counselors in other countries.
Currently, Import-Export Department is assigned to study two projects: "Diversifying sources of imported raw materials" and "Taking advantage of free trade agreements when the United States imposes reciprocal taxes". When completed, these projects will provide practical recommendations for the business community.
“When there was information that the Philippines planned to stop importing rice for 60 days, Ministry of Industry and Trade promptly reported to the Government and requested relevant ministries and branches to resolve issue through diplomatic channels,” said Mr. Son.
In addition, next September, hundreds of global buyers from over 60 countries and territories, representing key and potential export markets such as the United States, Japan, Korea, China, EU, Canada, the Middle East, India, South Asia, Africa, Latin America and ASEAN region will come to Vietnam to attend the event “Connecting the international supply chain - Viet Nam International Sourcing 2025" to find suppliers of goods, according to information from the Department of Foreign Market Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
In context of global economy shifting strongly, Vietnamese goods exporting enterprises have an increasingly urgent need to find new markets and partners, diversify supply chains and adapt to strict requirements from import markets. On contrary, Vietnam is becoming a prestigious destination in strategy of finding global suppliers. Many experts say that this is the time for enterprises to quickly adapt and accelerate production. Some optimistic opinions say that Vietnam's exports in 2025 could exceed last year's 900 billion USD mark.
Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang said that the Ministry is determined to use all measures to achieve industry growth of over 4%, with agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover reaching over 65 billion USD, striving for 70 billion USD in 2025.
For textile and garment industry in particular, although outlook is viewed more cautiously because export orders increased sharply in the first half of 2025, it is forecasted that there will be a certain slowdown in the third quarter. However, Mr. Tran Nhu Tung, Vice President of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), Chairman of Board of Directors of Thanh Cong Textile, Investment and Trading Company, also expects that export orders will be concentrated in the fourth quarter, when inventory is cleared and orders return. If this period is well utilized, textile and garment exports can completely “reach the finish line” with the target of 47 - 48 billion USD in 2025.
Textile and garment enterprises, fruit and vegetable enterprises in particular and export enterprises in general, are “sprinting” to the finish line. In particular, effectively utilizing free trade agreements; adjusting production reasonably, stabilizing workforce; upgrading equipment to meet new orders; maintaining traditional export markets, expanding new partners...are solutions that enterprises are promoting to implement in order to achieve the goals and plans set for this year. From there, contributing to the overall export growth target of the whole country in 2025.
