Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Market Bulletin of Import and Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited statistics from Customs Department, stating that in July 2025, Vietnam exported 13,730 tonnes of tea, worth 24.2 million USD, up 20.1% in volume and 21.1% in value compared to June 2025; however, compared to July 2024, it decreased by 10.3% in volume and 11.6% in value.
In the first 7 months of 2025, Vietnam's tea exports reached 71,630 tonnes, worth 120.69 million USD, down 8.7% in volume and 9.4% in value compared to the same period in 2024, showing that the tea industry is still facing competitive pressure and reduced demand in many traditional import markets. In July 2025, average tea export price reached 1,763 USD/tonne, up 0.8% compared to June 2025, but down 1.5% compared to July 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, the average export price of tea reached 1,685 USD/tonne, down 0.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
In July 2025, Pakistan was still Vietnam's largest tea import market, accounting for 42.96% in volume and 46.83% in value of the country's total tea exports, reaching nearly 5,900 tonnes, worth 11.33 million USD, up 39.9% in volume and 36.8% in value compared to June 2025; however, compared to July 2024, it decreased by 5.9% in volume and 14.7% in value.
Average export price of tea to this market was 1,921 USD/tonne, down 2.2% compared to June 2025 and down 9.4% compared to July 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, tea exports to the Pakistani market reached 23,920 tonnes, worth 45.77 million USD, up 5.7% in volume, but down 2.4% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Tea exports to the Chinese market ranked second, with 1,660 tonnes, worth 2.09 million USD, up 32.1% in volume and 31.1% in value compared to June 2025; compared to July 2024, up 9% in volume and up 4.5% in value. The average export price of tea to this market was 1,264 USD/tonne, down 0.7% compared to June 2025 and down 4.1% compared to July 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, tea exports to the Chinese market reached 7,830 tonnes, worth 11.46 million USD, down 2.4% in volume, but up 1.3% in value over the same period in 2024. In addition, the amount of tea exported to some other markets still recorded good growth compared to July 2024 such as: Taiwan (China) increased by 9.9%; Iraq increased by 60.6%; Russia increased by 13.7%; India increased by 502.8%; Philippines increased by 33.6%. While exports to some markets are still declining such as: the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Poland, etc.
Pakistan is Vietnam's largest tea import market
According to statistics from the Pakistan Tea Association, in the first 7 months of 2025, Pakistan imported 105,040 tonnes of tea, worth 244.92 million USD, down 18% in volume and 20% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania and Vietnam are the largest markets supplying tea to Pakistan.
Pakistan's tea imports from these markets all decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting the weakening demand for tea consumption in Pakistan due to economic difficulties and exchange rate pressure. This partly explains why Vietnam's tea exports to this market, although increasing in volume in some months, still decreased in value and have not achieved sustainable growth.
In the first 7 months of 2025, average price of imported tea into Pakistan tended to decrease compared to the same period in 2024, ranging from 2,177 - 2,403 USD/tonne. The highest price was recorded in March 2025 at 2,403 USD/tonne and the lowest in July 2025 at 2,177 USD/tonne. In the first 7 months of 2025, average price of imported tea into Pakistan reached 2,332 USD/tonne, down 2.4% compared to the same period in 2024.
In the first 7 months of 2025, Kenya remained the largest tea supplier to Pakistan, reaching 92,740 tonnes, worth 221.07 million USD, down 14.1% in volume and down 18.3% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Kenya's market share in Pakistan's total tea imports accounted for 88.28%, higher than the 84.24% in the same period in 2024.
In the first 7 months of 2025, Vietnam was the 6th largest tea supplier to Pakistan, reaching 595 tonnes, worth 818,000 USD, down 16.4% in volume and down 22.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024. 2024. Vietnam is one of the few markets that maintained its growth momentum in volume (up 6.4%) thanks to competitive prices, but the value still decreased due to an average price decrease of 11.4%, down to 1,019 USD/tonne. Meanwhile, in the first 7 months of 2025, Pakistan's green tea imports reached only 485 tonnes, worth 891,000 USD, down 35.2% in volume and 30% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Vietnam is the largest supplier of green tea to Pakistan, reaching 264 tonnes, worth 481,000 USD, down 34.1% in volume and 31.4% in value; Average price increased slightly by 4.1% to 1,820 USD/tonne. Green tea imports from China increased by 5.2% in value, thanks to a sharp increase in average price of 19.8% to 1,861 USD/tonne, although the volume still decreased by 12.2% to 199 tonnes.
