Sao Ta (FMC): Sales reached USD135.6 million, up 43% in the first half of 2025

 Sunday, July 13,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Sao Ta Food JSC (code FMC - HOSE) has just announced its business performance in the first 6 months of 2025.

In the first half of 2025, Sao Ta Food recorded finished shrimp production of 14,260 tons, up 32% over the same period last year. Finished shrimp consumption output also increased by 37%, to 11,452 tons. Regarding finished agricultural products, production output reached 554 tons, and consumption output reached 481 tons, equal to 79% and 77% respectively over the same period last year.
Overall, Sao Ta's sales in the first half of the year reached USD135.6 million, up 43% over the same period. Up to now, the Company is harvesting shrimp in FMC farming areas. The company also has a stable consumption contract, plus a fairly good farming productivity, which will contribute to reducing costs and increasing processing output.
Sharing about the anti-dumping tax rate (AD) for shrimp in the 19th administrative review (POR19) of the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced on June 6, the mandatory corporate tax rate is Stapimex at over 35%, and Sao Ta is "sharing" the same tax rate.
The FMC leadership said that the tax rate is preliminary and has not been applied. Previously, a similar situation had occurred (although the tax rate was lower), but DOC had adjusted the standard at the final tax rate. Now, the work needs to focus on thoroughly explaining to DOC.
More than ten years ago, in this lawsuit during the administrative review at that time, Sao Ta was the mandatory defendant and the preliminary tax rate was also quite high. But the lawyer's assertion was that DOC reviewed and calculated insufficient data provided by the lawyer. As a result, in the final ruling, DOC accepted a more satisfactory tax rate.
“The situation is a bit different now. The government on the plaintiff side seems to have the will to impose, like the import countervailing tax case that is causing economic chaos; breaking and disrupting many supply chains in the world. From there, it is assumed that the AD tax dispute at this time will be treated somewhat subjectively,” Sao Ta stated his opinion.
Sao Ta hopes for a good result. That means the parties involved will join hands to share to have the best persuasion, will receive wholehearted support from superiors in all aspects and DOC will handle it fairly.
“At that time, we believe that the tax rate will remain at the lowest level as it is now. Then at the end of this month, we will receive a satisfactory import tax rate from DOC. From there, we will be more secure for the journey ahead, and at the end of this year is the beginning of POR1 of the anti-subsidy lawsuit (CVD) also in this market,” Sao Ta emphasized.
