Analyzing the data in depth, Ms. Nguyen Thu Oanh, Head of the Service and Price Statistics Department, General Statistics Office, pointed out that a main reason for the increase in service revenue is that from the beginning of the year, many localities have actively implemented tourism stimulus programs and developed many new types of tourism to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
Therefore, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2025 increased sharply. Specifically, in the first 6 months, it reached 10.7 million arrivals, an increase of 20.7% over the same period last year, contributing to the increase in service revenue.

Consumption trends shift from quantity to quality
Although it has not yet achieved double-digit growth as in the pre-Covid-19 pandemic period, according to Ms. Nguyen Thu Oanh, statistics on total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are a positive result of the Vietnamese economy, especially in the context of the world economy facing many difficulties and challenges.
In the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue, retail sales of goods accounted for 76.5%, up by 7.9% over the same period last year, equivalent to the growth rate of the same period of 2024 and lower than the pre-pandemic period.
"This shows that people tend to tighten their consumption of goods; at the same time, the consumption trend shifts from quantity to quality, especially after the peak period of fighting smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and fake goods," Ms. Oanh commented.
The representative of the central statistics agency also pointed out that while the consumption of goods tended to be more restrained, the consumption of services increased. Especially during holidays and Tet, consumers were willing to spend on travel.
