Vietcombank Mekong Delta int’l marathon 2025 wraps up in Can Tho

AsemconnectVietnam - Launched in 2019, the Vietcombank Mekong Delta International Marathon is the first event of its kind in the Mekong Delta region.
The closing ceremony of the 6th Vietcombank Mekong Delta International Marathon took place on July 6 in Vi Tan ward, Can Tho city.
The 2025 edition featured four distances: 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km, with race routes passing through Vi Thanh and Vi Tan wards and Hoa Luu commune.
In the 5km race, Nguyen Van Khang of Vietnam claimed first place in the men’s category with a time of 16 minutes and 31 seconds, while Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong won the women’s race in 19 minutes and 39 seconds.
The 10km event saw Vietnamese Do Duy Thang and Le Thi Kim Phuong take first places in the men’s and women’s categories, with a time of 34 minutes and 22 seconds, and 42 minutes and 37 seconds, respectively.
In the half-marathon (21km), Hoang Nguyen Thanh also of Vietnam won the men’s race with a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes and 56 seconds, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan led the women’s race in 1 hour, 25 minutes and 59 seconds.
In the full marathon (42km), Edwin Yebei Kiptoo from Kenya triumphed in the men’s category with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes and 45 seconds, while Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa of Vietnam topped the women’s event with a time of 2 hours, 59 minutes and 25 seconds.
Launched in 2019, the Vietcombank Mekong Delta International Marathon is the first event of its kind in the Mekong Delta region. After five successful editions in former Hau Giang province, the 2025 race was held in Can Tho following the administrative mergence of Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces and Can Tho city. In line with the transition, the event was scaled down from 10,000 to 5,000 participants./.
