DAILY: Domestic coffee prices fell on May 30, 2025

 Friday, May 30,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, on May 30, 2025, domestic coffee prices ranged from VND119,200 to VND119,700/kg. Prices have been on a downward trend in recent weeks as rising supply has driven the market lower.

Since the end of March 2025, Robusta coffee prices have plunged by as much as USD1,000/tonne.
In Vietnam:
• In Di Linh, Lam Ha, and Bao Loc (Lam Dong), coffee was purchased at VND119,200/kg.
• In Cu M'gar district (Dak Lak), prices stood at VND119,500/kg, while in Ea H’leo and Buon Ho (Dak Lak), prices were VND119,400/kg.
• In Dak Nong province, prices were VND119,700/kg in Gia Nghia and VND119,600/kg in Dak R’lap.
• In Gia Lai province: VND119,400/kg in Chu Prong, and VND119,300/kg in both Pleiku and La Grai.
• In Kon Tum province: VND119,300/kg.
Domestic coffee prices continued to decline compared to the previous morning.
Global Coffee Market:
At the close of the latest trading session:
• Robusta coffee prices on the London ICE for July 2025 delivery dropped USD26/tonne to USD4,566/tonne, while September contracts fell USD36/tonne to USD4,530/tonne.
• On the New York ICE, Arabica coffee for July 2025 delivery dropped 3.55 cents/lb to 348.4 cents/lb, and September contracts fell 4.25 cents/lb to 345.6 cents/lb.
Coffee prices have been falling for several weeks. In early March 2025, prices in major growing regions such as Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Kon Tum peaked at VND135,000/kg, the highest level ever recorded. Compared to the same period last year, this represented a 65% increase.
The coffee price “fever” that lasted from February to March was fueled by supply shortages, driven by climate change and geopolitical disruptions.
However, prices quickly tumbled as major producing countries, especially Brazil, entered the new harvest season. Rising supply pushed prices down sharply, with Robusta losing USD1,000/tonne compared to the end of March.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently revised its previous forecast for Costa Rica’s Arabica production in the 2024/25 crop year, increasing it by 18% to 1.29 million bags.
Mexico’s coffee production for the 2024/25 season (October 2024 – September 2025) was maintained at 3.87 million bags, including 3.53 million bags of Arabica and 340,000 bags of Robusta. Green coffee exports were projected at 1.39 million bags.
Currently, upward price momentum is being driven by Brazil’s winter weather. Concerns remain over whether frost could significantly impact this year’s harvest. Additionally, rising US import tariffs and higher global freight costs are expected to place upward pressure on overall coffee prices.
