Vietnam domestic animal feed market – April 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center ( VITIC), domestic animal feed prices slightly increased in April 2025 compared to March 2025.
Specifically, on the market, the price of feed for piglets (under 15kg) ranged from VND16,500 to VND24,000 per kilogram; feed for medium-sized pigs (15kg–30kg) ranged from VND11,600 to VND19,000 per kilogram; feed for pigs from 30kg to slaughter weight ranged from VND10,000 to VND 18,000 per kilogram; feed for chicks ranged from VND11,800 to VND15,000 per kilogram; feed for adult chickens ranged from VND11,800 to VND13,700 per kilogram; and feed for laying hens ranged from VND10,000 to VND13,500 per kilogram.
In other localities, pig feed prices remained stable. Meanwhile, the price of UP brand feed for barramundi fish stood at VND28,500/kg, and Cargill brand fish feed was VND14,000/kg. Wholesale prices of UP brand feed for whiteleg shrimp increased by VND1,750/kg to reach VND34,500/kg.
Regarding raw material markets, prices of rice bran and corn powder fluctuated depending on type.

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's import turnover of animal feed and raw materials in March 2025 reached over USD368.03 million, down 26.3% compared to February 2025 and down 21.3% compared to March 2024.
Accumulated over the first three months of 2025, the import turnover totaled nearly USD1.17 billion, down 3.3% year-on-year.

Argentina was the largest supplier of imported animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam during the first three months of 2025, accounting for 42.4% of the country’s total imports, with a turnover of nearly USD495.56 million, sharply up 103.6% year-on-year. Specifically, imports from Argentina in March 2025 reached about USD133.42 million, down 45.2% from February 2025 but up 17.1% year-on-year.
Brazil ranked second, accounting for 16.1% of total imports, with a turnover exceeding USD188.15 million, down 3.9% year-on-year. In March 2025 alone, imports from Brazil reached USD 64.51 million, down 27.2% from February 2025 but sharply up 66.6% compared to March 2024.
The U.S. market ranked third, with imports from the U.S. totaling USD168.52 million in the first three months of 2025, down 41.5% year-on-year, accounting for 14.4% of the total. In March 2025 alone, imports reached USD 55.96 million, down 8.5% month-on-month and down sharply 54% year-on-year.

Export Market
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in March 2025, Vietnam's export turnover of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly USD110.04 million, up 30.9% compared to February 2025 and up 38.3% compared to March 2024.
Cumulatively, exports during the first three months of 2025 totaled over USD267.04 million, up 20.1% year-on-year.

China was the largest export market for Vietnam's animal feed and raw materials in Q1/2025, accounting for 43.7% of the country’s total exports, with a turnover exceeding USD116.73 million, up sharply 46.2% year-on-year. In March 2025 alone, exports to China reached over USD56.8 million, up 61.6% month-on-month and up 81.7% year-on-year.
Cambodia ranked second, accounting for 12.7% of total exports, with a turnover of nearly USD33.88 million, up 11.1% year-on-year.

Malaysia ranked third, with exports in March 2025 reaching USD8.1 million, down 3.6% month-on-month but up 7.3% year-on-year. Cumulatively for Q1/2025, exports to Malaysia decreased by 7.1% year-on-year to USD24.6 million, accounting for 9.2% of Vietnam’s total export turnover.
Exports to RCEP countries rose sharply by 31.1% year-on-year to over USD214.67 million, accounting for 80.4% of total exports.
Exports to CPTPP countries declined by 6.6% to nearly USD30.64 million, accounting for 11.5%. Exports to Southeast Asia accounted for 32.6%, reaching over USD86.92 million, up 21.2%.
