 Saturday, April 26,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic pepper prices remained stable at around 155,500 – 157,000 VND/kg on April 26, 2025, unchanged from the previous day.

Domestic pepper prices are forecast to reach approximately 160,000 VND/kg in the coming weeks. Enterprises are taking full advantage of the 90-day postponement of the 46% retaliatory tariff to boost shipments.
In Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces: 157,000 VND/kg.
In Gia Lai and Dong Nai: 155,500 VND/kg.
In Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc: 156,000 VND/kg.
Global Market:
As of the latest session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) reported:
  • Black pepper Lampung (Indonesia): 7,126 USD/ton, up 0.34%
  • Black pepper Brazil ASTA 570: 6,900 USD/ton
  • Black pepper Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA: 9,300 USD/ton
  • White pepper Muntok: 9,643 USD/ton, up 0.32%
  • White pepper Malaysia ASTA: 11,900 USD/ton
  • Vietnamese black pepper 500 g/l: 6,800 USD/ton
  • Vietnamese black pepper 550 g/l: 6,900 USD/ton
  • Vietnamese white pepper: 9,800 USD/ton
IPC has resumed raising prices for Indonesian pepper.
According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, although the harvest season has ended in many localities, domestic pepper supply in Vietnam remains limited.
Quoting forecasts from Ptexim, VITIC believes that domestic pepper prices are likely to reach around 160,000 VND/kg in the next few weeks.
Enterprises are using the 90-day suspension of the 46% retaliatory tariff to accelerate deliveries. At the same time, they are proactively expanding into European, Asian, and Middle Eastern markets to reduce dependence on the U.S., which has become increasingly sensitive to pricing and tariffs.
According to Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu newspaper, pepper production has been significantly affected by weather conditions. Prolonged drought in the early months of 2025 has negatively impacted major pepper-growing regions in the Central Highlands and Southeastern Vietnam. Limited supply following the harvest, combined with stable and high global prices, continues to support a strong price rebound.
The rise in export prices is a positive sign, providing businesses with resources to invest in improving quality and diversifying product lines. Shifting toward organic products with traceability and sustainable certification is becoming a necessary trend if Vietnam wants to maintain its market share and increase long-term value. Only by doing so can Vietnam uphold its position on the global trade map.
