Global Coffee Market:
The two coffee exchanges showed contrasting movements, with Arabica continuing to rise while Robusta adjusted downward slightly. In the short term, exports are expected to keep growing thanks to abundant domestic supply and the U.S. postponing retaliatory tariffs. At the close of the latest trading session, Robusta coffee prices in London for July 2025 delivery fell by 12 USD/ton to 5,415 USD/ton, while the September 2025 contract dropped 6 USD/ton to 5,356 USD/ton. On the New York exchange, Arabica coffee for July 2025 delivery increased by 1.05 cents/lb to 399.85 cents/lb, while the September 2025 contract rose by 1.3 cents/lb to 392.6 cents/lb.
The two exchanges showed opposite trends: Arabica continued to increase, while Robusta saw a mild decline.
 Vietnam’s coffee exports
According to data from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s coffee exports in the first 15 days of April 2025 reached 83,572 tonnes, valued at 482.98 million USD, down 11% in volume and 11.4% in value compared to the first half of March. However, compared to the same period last year, volume dropped by 3%, while value surged by 49.6%.
From the beginning of the year to April 15, total coffee exports reached 580,999 tonnes, valued at 3.3 billion USD. This marked a 13.5% decrease in volume (equivalent to 90,383 tonnes) compared to the same period in 2024, but an impressive 46.8% increase in value.
Thanks to this performance, coffee has, for the first time, surpassed seafood (2.7 billion USD) to rank second in agricultural export revenue, only behind wood and wood products (4.57 billion USD).
The Export and Import Department forecasts that Vietnam’s coffee exports will continue to grow in the short term due to abundant domestic supply and the U.S. postponing the imposition of retaliatory tariffs on most trade partners, prompting importers to increase purchases before the new tariffs take effect.
However, in the long term, Vietnam’s coffee exports may face challenges as domestic supply declines toward the end of the harvest season, Brazil’s new harvest begins, and new tariff policies come into play.
