DAILY: Domestic coffee prices on April 16, 2025: Continued upward trend

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic coffee prices in Vietnam on April 16, 2025, ranged from 131,300 to 132,200 VND/kg, marking a 7,000 VND/kg increase since the start of the week.

 
This follows a global price surge, with London's Robusta prices rising by over 250 USD/ton.

Global Market Update:
  • Robusta (London):
    • May 2025: +110 USD → 5,373 USD/ton
    • July 2025: +101 USD → 5,340 USD/ton
  • Arabica (New York):
    • May 2025: +9 cents → 369.4 cents/lb
    • July 2025: +8.659 cents → 367.15 cents/lb

  • Brazil’s Robusta exports dropped 84% in March 2025 compared to last year.
  • Certified coffee stocks at ICE warehouses fell to a 1.5-month low.
  • Dry weather in Brazil’s key arabica-growing region (Minas Gerais) supports price hikes, with rainfall only at 89% of the historical average.
  • Brazilian farmers have sold 95% of the 2024/25 harvest but only 14% of the 2025/26 crop due to uncertainty in output.
Coffee exports
Vietnam’s coffee exports increased by 10.31 percent in March compared to February, reaching US$1.06 billion, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
The year-to-date value of Vietnam’s coffee exports hit US$2.81 billion, supported by strong demand from Europe and Asia. Germany remained the top destination, accounting for nearly 17 percent of total exports. Spain and Russia also showed robust growth, with exports to Spain jumping by 39.25 percent and to Russia by 29.13 percent.
Shipments to the Philippines surged by 130.28 percent to US$43.56 million, while Canada and Egypt more than doubled their imports compared to February. However, exports to Italy and the USA declined by 37.38 percent and 12.12 percent respectively.
