Vietnam's seafood market in March 2015
Monday, April 14,2025
AsemconnectVietnam - In March 2025, pangasius fish prices rose to the highest level in three years. Specifically, small-sized fish under one kilogram were priced at 31,500 VND/kg, while larger-sized fish, mainly exported to China, reached 33,500 VND/kg — an increase of nearly 10,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year.
Farmers made a profit of 7,000 VND/kg. The price increase was attributed to limited supply, as farmers reduced stocking density due to erratic weather conditions, leading to slower fish growth. Additionally, low and prolonged prices last year caused heavy losses, leaving many farmers without capital to reinvest. However, the export market has yet to show significant improvement.
Shrimp prices remained high throughout March 2025. The price of whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) sized 20 pcs/kg reached 220,000 VND/kg; size 40 pcs/kg was 129,500 VND/kg; sizes 50 and 60 pcs/kg were 116,500 VND/kg and 110,500 VND/kg, respectively; size 80 pcs/kg was 98,500 VND/kg. Black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) of larger sizes were priced at 381,000 VND/kg for 10 pcs/kg and 342,000 VND/kg for 12 pcs/kg.
