Brazilian firms eye Vietnam opportunities at Sao Paulo seminar

AsemconnectVietnam - During the exhibition from April 8-10, Vietnamese firms displayed signature food and beverage products, including dried pho, instant noodles, canned food, chocolate-coated dried fruit, tea, coffee, and nutritious grains, connecting with Brazilian supermarket chains and distributors to reach 230 million consumers.

Brazilian firms eager to tap into Vietnam’s market gathered at a seminar hosted by the Vietnam Trade Office in Sao Paulo on April 9, as part of the sixth ANUGA Food and Beverage Exhibition.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi opened the event, tracing the growth of bilateral ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1989. He highlighted the strategic partnership upgrade on November 17, 2024, making Brazil Vietnam’s first such partner in South America and Vietnam Brazil’s first in Southeast Asia.

Nghi further noted that during Brazilian President Lula da Silva’s late March visit to Vietnam, both nations issued a joint statement outlining the 2025-2030 strategic partnership action programme, covering multiple key cooperation areas.

Participants engaged in lively discussions, exploring opportunities, challenges, and strategies to boost bilateral economic ties.

Victor Key, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brazil Vietnam, called Vietnam a pivotal Asian trade partner, stressing that that Brazilian enterprises look to elevate two-way trade to 10 billion USD over the next two years.

Bruno Romano, Commercial Director of GreenLife Solution, highlighted Vietnam's potential as a lucrative market for Brazilian beef, poultry, and grains, alongside its supply of raw materials like frozen fruit, plastic resins, iron, steel, and aluminum to Brazil’s industries.

Pham Hong Trang, head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Brazil, underscored the similarities and complementary nature of the two economies. “Brazil, Latin America’s largest economy, excels in agriculture, energy and manufacturing, aligning with Vietnam’s goal to diversify export markets amid global trade shifts”, she said.

During the exhibition from April 8-10, Vietnamese firms displayed signature food and beverage products, including dried pho, instant noodles, canned food, chocolate-coated dried fruit, tea, coffee, and nutritious grains, connecting with Brazilian supermarket chains and distributors to reach 230 million consumers.

This year’s exhibition drew over 500 firms from 23 countries globally, and more than 16,000 visitors from 33 nations./.
