DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices fell by 1000 VND on April 1, 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands decreased by 1000 VND to 158,000 to 159,000 VND/kg on Tuesday compared to Yesterday.

Despite being in peak harvest season, prices remain high. In March 2025, pepper prices increased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg in the Central Highlands and by 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg in the Southeast region.
Domestic Pepper Prices
• Đắk Lắk province: 159,000 VND/kg (-1,000 VND/kg)
• Đắk Nông province: 159,000 VND/kg (-1,000 VND/kg)
• Gia Lai province: 158,000 VND/kg (-1,000 VND/kg)
• Đồng Nai province: 158,000 VND/kg (-1,000 VND/kg)
• Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu province: 158,000 VND/kg (-1,000 VND/kg)
• Bình Phước province: 158,000 VND/kg (-1,000 VND/kg)
This early-week decline caused the market to drop below 160,000 VND/kg. However, despite the peak harvest season, prices remain at a high level.
March Price Summary & Market Factors
• In March 2025, pepper prices rose by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg in the Central Highlands and by 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg in the Southeast.
• In February 2025, domestic pepper prices surged by 10,000 VND/kg. The late harvest this year led to delayed supply, while farmers, having the ability to store their stock, limited sales, pushing prices higher.
International Pepper Market Overview
In the latest trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the following prices:
• Black pepper:
o Lampung, Indonesia: 7,239 USD/ton
o Brazil ASTA 570: 7,000 USD/ton
o Kuching, Malaysia ASTA: 9,900 USD/ton
• White pepper:
o Muntok: 10,066 USD/ton
o Malaysia ASTA: 12,400 USD/ton
• Vietnamese pepper prices:
o Black pepper (500 g/l): 7,100 USD/ton
o Black pepper (550 g/l): 7,300 USD/ton
o White pepper: 10,100 USD/ton
The International Pepper Community (IPC) noted:
• India: Despite the Indian Rupee strengthening by 1% against the USD (85.64 INR/USD), both domestic and international pepper prices increased last week.
• Sri Lanka: Domestic pepper prices have been rising for five consecutive weeks.
• Indonesia: Domestic and export prices fell due to the Indonesian Rupiah depreciating by 1% against the USD (16,584 IDR/USD).
• Malaysia: Domestic pepper prices remained stable last week, while export prices increased.
• Brazil: Black pepper prices have been rising for three consecutive weeks.
• Cambodia & China: Cambodian black pepper and Chinese white pepper prices remained stable.
Despite short-term fluctuations, the global pepper market shows an overall upward trend, driven by supply constraints and strong international demand.
