AsemconnectVietnam - Da Lat should strengthen public-private partnerships to create a favourable environment for cultural industries, while engaging youth participation and applying digital transformation in music to foster innovation and expand its global reach.
The People's Committee of Da Lat city in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on February 22 organised a consultation seminar on the plan to implement commitments to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the Field of Music for the 2025–2027 period.
It attracted the participation of domestic and international experts and managers working in the fields of culture and arts who contributed initiatives, recommendations, orientations, and appropriate solutions for developing Da Lat as a city of music.
Notably, enterprises interested in cultural and tourism development proposed public-private partnership models to implement projects that will preserve and enhance the title of Da Lat as a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
According to Jonathan Wallace Baker, head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam, the 2024–2027 period is a crucial phase as Da Lat begins implementing its commitments, and the city needs to establish an ambitious, comprehensive, and sustainable roadmap.
In this process, Da Lat should strengthen public-private partnerships to create a favourable environment for cultural industries, while engaging youth participation and applying digital transformation in music to foster innovation and expand its global reach.
Pham Thi Lan Anh, head of the Heritage Management Desk under the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, shared experience in conducting activities when Hanoi became a UNESCO Creative City in the field of design. She advised Da Lat to build local creative communities to promote the roles of each citizen and artist. In addition to local initiatives, key international initiatives are needed to strengthen relationships with other members of the network.
Da Lat was recognised as a UNESCO Creative City of Music on October 31, 2023./.
