7 groups of export goods reached a turnover of billions USD in January

AsemconnectVietnam - In January of 2025, Vietnam's total export turnover of goods reached 33.19 billion USD, down by 6.6% compared to the previous month and down by 4% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs.

Notably, in January of 2025, there were 7 groups of export goods reaching a turnover of 1 billion USD or more.
Leading the way were computers, electronic products and components with 6.05 billion USD, down by 17.4% compared to the previous month and up by 13.3% compared to the same period last year.
In the month, the largest exports of computers, electronic products and components were to the United States, reaching 2.19 billion USD, up by 22.8% over the same period last year.
The following markets included China reached 893 million USD, up by 4.7%; EU reached 841 million USD, up by 42.6%; Hong Kong (China) reached 450 million USD, down by 21%; and South Korea reached 657 million USD, up by 21.6%.
Phones of all kinds and components ranked second with 4.83 billion USD, up by 32.3% compared to the previous month but down by 13.2% compared to the same period last year.
The exports of this group of goods were mainly to markets such as the United States with 1.12 billion USD, down by 19% compared to the same period of 2024; EU with 850 million USD, down by 8.7%; China with 604 million USD, down by 17.9%; South Korea with 255 million USD, down by 22.7%.
Rank third was machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts with 3.86 billion USD, down by 12% compared to the previous month and down by 4% compared to the same period last year.
The important export markets for machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts in January of 2025 included the United States with 1.64 billion USD, up by 4.9% over the same period in 2024; the EU with 560 million USD, down by 1.3%; ASEAN with 270 million USD, down by 5.9%; Hong Kong with 215 million USD, up by 196%.
Textiles and garments ranked fourth in export turnover in January of 2025 with 3.19 billion USD, down by 5.4% over the previous month and up by 1.8% over the same period last year.
In January of 2025, the United States continued to be Vietnam's largest textile and garment export market with a turnover of 1.4 billion USD, up by 6% over the same period last year.
It was followed by the Japanese market with 379 million USD, down by 2.1%; EU with 352 million USD, up by 3.6%; South Korea with 298 million USD, up by 4.5%.
Footwear group had the fifth largest turnover with 1.9 billion USD, down by 9.9% compared to the previous month and down by 3.7% compared to the same period last year.
The main footwear export markets included the United States with 707 million USD, up by 2.9% compared to the same period last year; EU with 466 million USD, down by 7.2%; China with 132 million USD, down by 26.9%.
Wood and wood products were the sixth largest export group in terms of turnover with 1.42 billion USD, down by 9.7% compared to the previous month and down by 3.7% compared to the same period last year.
The United States was the largest export market with 780 million USD, down by 4.8% compared to the same period in 2024. The next was Japan with 166 million USD, up by 2.8%; and China with 139 million USD, down by 17.5%.
The seventh billion-dollar group in January of 2025 was means of transport and spare parts with 1.19 billion USD, down by 8% compared to the previous month and down by 10.2% compared to the same period last year.
The main export markets for means of transport and spare parts in January of 2025 were Japan with 256 million USD, down by 16.4% compared to the same period last year; the United States with 225 million USD, down by 22.2%; the EU with 158 million USD, up by 22.2%; ASEAN with 154 million USD, down by 7.9%; South Korea with 159 million USD, down by 32.1%.
Thus, the total export turnover of the 7 key commodity groups mentioned above reached 22.45 billion USD, accounting for 72% of the country's export turnover in January of 2025.
