AsemconnectVietnam - In 2024, Vietnam's exports to Japan reached 24.59 billion USD; the imports from Japan reached 21.59 billion USD; and the trade balance was in Vietnam's favor, with a trade surplus of 3 billion USD.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, the imports and exports of goods between Vietnam and Japan in 2024 reached 48.18 billion USD. Of which, Vietnam's exports to the Japanese market reached 24.59 billion USD, an increase of 5.6% over the same period last year (equivalent to an increase of 1.3 billion USD).
Some export items recorded positive growth compared to the previous year, including textiles and garments reaching 4.33 billion USD, an increase of 6.7% (equivalent to an increase of 273 million USD); means of transport and spare parts reached 3.03 billion USD, up by 2.9% (equivalent to an increase of 86 million USD).
On the contrary, the value of imported goods from Japan in 2024 reached 21.59 billion USD, down by 0.2% compared to the previous year (equivalent to a decrease of 39.4 million USD).
The group of imported goods that decreased compared to the previous year included computers, electronic products and components reached 6.73 billion USD, down by 8.4% (equivalent to a decrease of 615 million USD); other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 4.01 billion USD, down slightly by 0.1%.
Thus, in 2024, the trade balance tilted towards Vietnam with a trade surplus of 3 billion USD, higher than the trade surplus of 1.7 billion USD in 2023.
