More than 90% total cassava exported to China in 9 months

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 9 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 1.76 million tonnes of cassava and cassava products to China, worth of more than 802 million USD.

The Import-Export Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited the statistics from the General Department of Customs, saying that cassava exports decreased sharply in September of 2024 due to the impact of floods and slow demand from China.
According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in September of 2024, Vietnam exported more than 121,000 tonnes of cassava and cassava products, worth of 56.74 million USD, down by 36.8% in volume and 34.7% in value compared to August of 2024. Compared to September of 2023, the figure was down by 53.9% in volume and down by 53.7% in value.
In the first 9 months of 2024, cassava and cassava products exports reached 1.91 million tonnes, worth of 879.22 million USD, down by 10% in volume and down by 1.4% in value compared to the same period of 2023.
In September of 2024, China was still the largest export market for cassava and cassava products of Vietnam, accounting for 92.92% in volume and 91.79% in value of the total cassava and cassava products exports of the whole country, with 112,450 tonnes, worth of 52.08 million USD, down by 39% in volume and down by 36.7% in value in August of 2024. Compared to September of 2023, the figure was down by 55.6% in volume and down by 55.6% in value.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 1.76 million tonnes of cassava and cassava products to China, worth of 802.78 million USD, down by 9.2% in volume and down by 0.2% in value compared to the same period of 2023.
Notably, in September of 2024, cassava and cassava product exports to markets such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan and Pakistan all increased in both volume and value compared to the same period of 2023. However, the export volume to these markets was low.
In the first 9 months of 2024, cassava and cassava product exports to some markets still grew well in both volume and value compared to the same period of 2023 such as Taiwan, Malaysia and Pakistan. However, the exports to major markets such as China, South Korea, Japan and the Philippines all decreased sharply compared to the same period of 2023.
