AsemconnectVietnam - The recovery of domestic consumption and production demand, along with the strong growth of tourism, has contributed positively to the growth of the trade and service sector in the first 9 months of 2024.

According to the General Statistics Office, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in September of 2024 was estimated to increase by 1.2% over the previous month and by 7.6% over the same period last year.
In the first 9 months of 2024, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 8.8% over the same period last year, of which the revenue from accommodation and catering services increased by 13.6% and the revenue from tourism and travel increased by 16.7%.
The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices in September was estimated at VND 535.8 trillion, up by 7.6% over the same period last year.
Of which, revenue from food and foodstuffs increased by 10.6% and accommodation and catering increased by 7.9%. In the third quarter of 2024, the total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue at current prices was estimated at VND 1,591.0 trillion, up by 1.7% over the previous quarter and up by 8.4% over the same period last year.
In the first 9 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue at current prices was estimated at VND 4,703.4 trillion, up by 8.8% over the same period last year. Excluding the price factor, the increase was 5.8%.
Retail sales of goods in the first 9 months of 2024 were estimated at VND 3,630.2 trillion, up by 7.9% over the same period last year (excluding the price factor, the increase was 5.4%).
Compared to the same period last year, Quang Ninh increased by 10.4%; Hai Phong increased by 9.3%; Can Tho increased by 7.7%; Da Nang increased by 7.4%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 7.2%; and Hanoi increased by 7%.
