Second painting contest on Vietnam’s cultural heritage to be launched in September
Friday, August 30,2024AsemconnectVietnam - The second edition of a painting contest honouring Vietnamese cultural heritage will be launched at the beginning of September.
The contest aims to create opportunities for artists to learn and express their love for Vietnamese cultural heritages and inspire them to create paintings contributing to the protection, preservation and promotion of the heritage, Do Van Tru, chairman of the Vietnam Culture Heritage Association said at a press conference on August 29.
He noted that young artists, students at universities, colleges specialising in fine arts and cultural and art schools nationwide and Vietnamese students studying abroad are encouraged to join the contest, adding that there will be three additional prizes for young contestants. The contest accepts paintings on all materials and of all types, depicting values of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and landscapes across the country.
Contestants can send multiple entries to the contest’s organizing board by September 30, 2025. The winners will be announced in late November to mark the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23. One grand prize, together with one first, two second, three third, 20 consolation prizes and three youth prizes, worth a total 975 million VND (39,180 USD), will be presented.
Vietnam currently has more than 40,000 historical, artistic and architectural relics, including eight UNESCO-recognised Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites, 128 special national sites, and over 3,610 national sites.
The country also has around 70,000 intangible cultural heritage elements, including 15 UNESCO-recognised Intangible Cultural Heritage elements, 25 national treasures, and 483 national intangible cultural heritage elements./.
