According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of 2024, the country exported over 1.03 million tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to nearly 420.32 million USD, with an average price of 406.6 USD/tonne, up by 9.7% in volume, up by 7.5% in turnover but down by 2% in price compared to the same period of 2023.
In July of 2024 alone, 132,215 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds were exported, reaching 58.81 million USD, with a price of 444.8 USD/tonne, down by 23.6% in volume, down by 8.5% in turnover but up by 19.7% in price compared to June of 2024. Compared to July of 2023, it also decreased by 6.2% in volume, but increased by 7.6% in turnover and increased by 14.7% in price.
Vietnam's main fertilizer export markets in the first 7 months of 2024
Vietnam's fertilizers are mainly exported to the Cambodian market, which alone accounted for 30.8% of the total volume and 31.5% of the total fertilizer export turnover of the country, reaching 318,716 tonnes, equivalent to 132.51 million USD, with an average price of 415.8 USD/tonne, down by 6.6% in volume, down by 7.1% in turnover and down by 0.5% in price compared to the same period of 2023. In July of 2024 alone, the exports to this market reached 68,698 tonnes, equivalent to 30.28 million USD, with an average price of 440.7 USD/tonne, up by 12.2% in volume, up by 17.6% in turnover, and up by 4.8% in price compared to June of 2024.
Following the main market of Cambodia was the Korean market with 114,697 tonnes, equivalent to over 47.68 million USD, the average price was 415.7 USD/tonne, up by 136.6% in volume, up by 165.9% in turnover and up by 12.4% in price, accounting for over 11% of the total volume and total export turnover of fertilizers of the whole country.
The exports to the Malaysian market reached 73,740 tonnes, equivalent to 27.27 million USD, the average price was 369.8 USD/tonne, up by 29.8% in volume, up by 47.8% in turnover and up by 13.9% in price, accounting for 7.1% in total volume and 6.5% in total turnover.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the country's fertilizer import volume reached nearly 3.06 million tonnes, worth of nearly 980.47 million USD, with an average price of 320.9 USD/tonne.
According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in July of 2024, the country imported 424,319 tonnes of fertilizer, equivalent to 137.15 million USD, with an average price of 323.2 USD/tonne, down by 6.9% in volume, down by 11.1% in turnover and down by 4.5% in price compared to June of 2024. Compared to July 2023, it increased sharply by 36.5% in volume, up by 56.7% in turnover and up by 14.8% in price.
In July of 2024, fertilizer imports from the main market China increased by 14.2% in volume, 8.3% in turnover but decreased by 5.2% in price compared to June of 2024, reaching 213,795 tonnes, equivalent to 70.71 million USD, the price was 330.7 USD/tonne. Compared to July of 2023, it increased by 9.4% in volume, 39.5% in turnover and 27.5% in price. The imports from the Russian market in July of 2024 decreased sharply by 82.4% in volume and 81.4% in turnover but increased by 5.8% in price compared to June of 2024, reaching 4,761 tonnes, equivalent to over 2.2 million USD, the price was at 462.2 USD/tonne. Compared to July of 2023, it decreased by 3.2% in volume, 24.2% in turnover and 21.6% in price. In the first 7 months of 2024, the total amount of fertilizer imported by the whole country reached nearly 3.06 million tonnes, worth of nearly 980.47 million USD, the average price reached 320.9 USD/tonne, up by 55.5% in volume, up by 46.3% in turnover but down by 5.9% in price compared to the first 7 months of 2023.
Main fertilizer import markets of Vietnam in the first 7 months of 2024
China was still the leading fertilizer supplier to Vietnam, accounting for 40.8% of the total volume and 37.4% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the whole country, reaching nearly 1.25 million tonnes, equivalent to 366.65 million USD, the average price was 293.9 USD/tonne, up by 18.8% in volume, up by 13.1% in turnover but down by 4.8% in price compared to the first 7 months of 2023.
The Russian market ranked second, accounting for 11.9% of the total volume and 16.9% of the total turnover, with 364,402 tonnes, equivalent to 165.48 million USD, the average price was 454.1 USD/tonne, up by 397.9% in volume, up by 325.4% in turnover but down by 14.6% in price compared to the first 7 months of 2023.
Fertilizer imports from the Lao market reached 211,944 tonnes, equivalent to 54.99 million USD, up by 47.3% in volume, up by 4.2% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for over 6.9% of the total volume and 5.6% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the whole country.
