Textile and garment enterprises worry about orders and unit prices in 4st quarter

 Thursday, August 22,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - Most domestic textile and garment enterprises have orders until the end of the third quarter of 2024, but orders for the fourth quarter of 2024 are not certain, especially unit prices have not improved.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Giang - Chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, at present, basically, textile and garment export orders are sufficient until the end of the third quarter of 2024, but orders for the fourth quarter of 2024 are still uncertain, because customers are still cautiously monitoring market developments.
Mr. Vu Duc Giang also said that the current general situation at textile and garment enterprises is that unit prices have not improved much, especially for FOB orders.
Referring to the adaptive solutions of textile and garment enterprises in the current context, Mr. Vu Duc Giang said that enterprises in the industry need to continue to diversify markets, customers, and products. In particular, it is necessary to have a sustainable development strategy, meeting the requirements of greening, investing in digital management, investment solutions in automation technology in some production lines, fast delivery, high quality.
"Textile and garment enterprises need to focus on fashion industry solutions, pay attention to shaping and providing strategic solutions for some Vietnamese brands and trademarks to the world market, this is a very important issue to increase value and competitiveness" - Mr. Vu Duc Giang stated.
In 2024, the textile and garment industry is likely to achieve the export turnover target of 44 billion USD. However, in 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assessed that the world situation will have many unpredictable fluctuations, negatively affecting export industries, including textiles and garments. Therefore, the Ministry also built many orientations and solutions to overcome this.
Specifically, the Ministry continues to focus on implementing programs and activities to connect supply and demand, search for domestic and foreign markets, especially export markets; as well as utilize diplomatic dialogue channels and through the system of Vietnamese trade offices abroad, especially in large markets such as the US, EU, Japan, China, Korea, etc. to actively seek opportunities and new orders for the textile and footwear industries, seek and expand new export markets in addition to traditional markets. The Ministry also recommends that associations and industries strengthen the organization of business connection activities, promote the consumption of each other's products among enterprises in the same association, industry and between industries, support each other in promoting exports and searching for markets.
The Ministry will closely monitor the world situation, especially the situation of Vietnam's major and traditional export markets to promptly propose appropriate solutions to remove difficulties, such as: sustainable development trends, greening in the EU's consumer and fashion industries; new regulations on supply chain assessment of EU countries for export industries.
The Ministry will also coordinate with localities to change perceptions of the textile, dyeing, tanning industries, etc. in order to have appropriate policies to develop these industries, thereby overcoming the disruption of the domestic textile and footwear value chain; and to coordinate with relevant agencies to continue proposing to competent authorities to approve support policies for enterprises in the textile and footwear industry; especially support and incentives on tax, finance, credit, and social security.
