In June of 2024 alone, the country’s exports of 172,985 tons of fertilizers of all kinds reached 64.26 million USD, priced at 371.5 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 77.8% in volume, an increase of 55.2% in turnover but a decrease of 12.7% in price compared to May of 2024. In comparison to June of 2023, it also increased by 60.7% in volume, increased by 37.6% in turnover but decreased by 14.1% in price.
Vietnam's main fertilizer export markets in the first 6 months of 2024
Vietnam's fertilizer exports were mainly to the Cambodian market. This market alone accounted for 27.7% of the total volume and 28.2% of the country's total fertilizer export turnover, reaching 250,019 tonnes, equivalent to 102.23 million USD, the average price was 408.9 USD/tonne, down by 14% in volume, down by 16.5% in turnover and down by 2.9% in price compared to the same period of 2023. In June of 2024 alone, the country’s exports to this market reached 61,227 tonnes, equivalent to 25.75 million USD, the average price was 420.6 USD/tonne, up by 43% in volume, up by 50.7% in turnover, and the price up by 5.4% compared to the previous month.
Behind the main market of Cambodia was the South Korean market with 95,667 tonnes, equivalent to over 39.53 million USD, the average price was 413.2 USD/tonne, an increase of 98.9% in volume, an increase of 122.8% in turnover and increased 12% in price, accounting for nearly 11% of the country's total fertilizer export volume and turnover.
The exports to the Malaysian market reached 60,295 tonnes, equivalent to 21.61 million USD, average price 358.4 USD/tonne, up by 23.5% in volume, 34.5% increase in turnover and 8.9% increase in price, accounting for 6.7% of total volume and 6% of total turnover.

According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, fertilizer imports to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2024 reached over 2.58 million tonnes, with the turnover of 838.34 million USD, average price of 324.4 USD/tonne, up by 51.9% in volume, up by 42.3% in turnover but down by 6.3% in price compared to the first 6 months of 2023.
In June of 2024 alone, it decreased by 14.3% in volume, decreased by 12.7% in turnover but increased by 1.9% in price compared to May of 2024, reaching 455,858 tonnes, worth of 154.21 million USD, the average price was 338.3 USD/tonne.
Vietnam's main fertilizer import markets in the first 6 months of 2024
Vietnam imported the most fertilizer from the Chinese market. In June of 2024, the country’s fertilizer imports from this market increased slightly by 0.4% in volume, increased by 3.2% in turnover and increased by 2.8% in price compared to May of 2024, reaching 187,170 tonnes, equivalent to 65.28 million USD, priced at 348.8 USD/tonne. In general, for the whole 6 months of 2024, the country’s imports of fertilizer reached over 1.03 million tonnes, worth of nearly 295.98 million USD, the average price was 286.2 USD/tonne, an increase of 21.1% in volume, an increase of 8.1% in value but down by 10.8% in price over the same period of 2023, accounting for 40% of the total volume and 35.3% of the country's total fertilizer import turnover.
Russia was the second largest market with 362,326 tonnes, worth of 164.11 million USD, the average price was 452.9 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 430.7% in volume, an increase of 355.9% in turnover, but a decrease of 14% in price over the same period last year. In June of 2024 alone, the imports from this market decreased by 71% in volume, decreased by 67.7% in turnover, but increased by 11.8% in price compared to May of 2024, reaching 27,095 tonnes, worth of 11.83 million USD, average price was 436.7 USD/tonne.
The Southeast Asian market ranked third with 309,775 tonnes, worth of 95.12 million USD, up by 34.3% in volume, up by 5.6% in turnover compared to the first 6 months of 2023.
