AsemconnectVietnam - In the first half of 2024, fruit and vegetable exports are estimated to earn 3.4 billion USD, up 28% over the same period last year.

According to Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and estimates from General Department of Customs, in the first half of 2024, fruit and vegetable exports reached 3.4 billion USD, up 28% over the same period last year. Of which, durian, dragon fruit, banana and longan are the fruits that contribute greatly to growth of fruit and vegetable exports.
Main markets recorded an increase of 10 - 50% over the same period in 2023, except for the Netherlands, which reduced its purchases. Specifically, China, Thailand and South Korea are still major markets, as by the end of May, these markets increased their imports by 30 - 60% over the same period last year. Of which, Thailand spent 74.5 million USD and South Korea 136 million USD to buy Vietnamese fruits and vegetables.
In China alone, in the first 5 months of the year, this market bought 1.7 billion USD of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, an increase of 33% over the same period in 2023. According to Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen - General Secretary of Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, Vietnamese fruits and vegetables have many advantages in exporting here thanks to their geographical location and similarities in culinary culture.
It is forecasted that fruit and vegetable exports will continue to grow by 15 - 20% this year. If we take advantage of opportunities from the Protocols, fruit and vegetable exports can reach 7 billion USD this year, an increase of 0.5 - 1 billion USD compared to the plan set out at the end of last year by agricultural sector.
