Vietnam's fertilizer exports and imports in first 4 months of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in the first 4 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 624,462 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, worth of 252.4 million USD.

Meanwhile, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country's fertilizer imports reached over 1.59 million tonnes, worth of over 505.37 million USD.

The statistics figures from the General Department of Customs showed that, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country exported 624,462 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to 252.4 million USD, the average price was 404.2 USD/tonne, an increase of 16.2 % in volume, increased by 8.7% in turnover but down by 6.5% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
In April 2024 alone, 123,796 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds were exported, reaching 44.08 million USD, priced at 356 USD/tonne, down by 16.8% in volume, down by 29.8% in turnover and down by 15.6% in price compared to March of 2024. In comparison to April of 2023, it also decreased in volume, turnover and price, with a corresponding decrease of 6.2%, 9% and 3.1%.
Vietnam exported fertilizer mainly to the Cambodian market. This market alone accounted for over 23% of the country's total fertilizer export volume and turnover, reaching 145,783 tonnes, equivalent to 59.28 million USD, the average price was 406.7 USD/tonne, down by 3.8% in volume, down by 9.7% in turnover and down by 6% in price compared to the same period in 2023. Particularly in April of 2024, the country’s exports to this market increased 17.8% in volume, up by 16.2% in turnover but down by 1.3% in price compared to March of 2024, reaching 42,272 tonnes, equivalent to 16.8 million USD.
Behind the main market of Cambodia were markets South Korea with 83,385 tonnes, equivalent to 34.49 million USD, average price of 413.6 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 74.7% in volume, an increase of 96.1 % in turnover and increased 12.3% in price, accounting for over 13% of the total volume and total fertilizer export turnover of the country.
The exports to the Philippine market reached 38,633 tonnes, equivalent to 18.6 million USD, average price was 481.3 USD/tonne, up by 281% in volume and 192.5% in turnover, but the price decreased by 23.2%, accounting for over 6.2% of the total volume and 7.4% of the total turnover.
The exports to the Malaysian market reached 45,012 tonnes, equivalent to 15.46 million USD, the average price was 343.5 USD/tonne, up by 18.4% in volume, up by 19.5% in turnover, and up by 0.9% in price, accounting for 7.2% of total volume and 6.1% of total turnover.

In the first 4 months of 2024, the country's imported fertilizer volume reached over 1.59 million tonnes, worth of over 505.37 million USD, the average price reached 317.7 USD/tonne.
The preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs showed that, in April of 2024, the country imported 495,103 tonnes of fertilizer, equivalent to 163.17 million USD, the average price was 329.6 USD/tonne, increased by 15.5% in volume, by 32.3% in turnover and by 14.6% in price compared to March of 2024. In comparison to April of 2023, it also increased by 60.8% in volume, increased by 48.6% in turnover but decreased by 7.6% in price.
In April of 2024, fertilizer imports from the main market China continued to increase by 10.5% in volume, 57.9% in turnover and 42.9% in price compared to March of 2024, reaching 192,850. tonnes, equivalent to 63.12 million USD, the price was 327.3 USD/tonne. In comparison to April of 2023, it increased by 9% in volume, increased by 8% in turnover but decreased by 0.9% in price. The imports from the Russian market in April of 2024 increased sharply by 417% in volume, increased by 276.9% in turnover but decreased by 27% in price compared to March of 2024, reaching 101,515 tonnes, equivalent to over 31.88 million USD, the price was at 314 USD/tonne. In comparison to April of 2023, it increased sharply by 916% in volume, increased by 536.8% in turnover but decreased by 37.3% in price.
Overall, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country's imported fertilizer volume reached over 1.59 million tonnes, worth of over 505.37 million USD, the average price reached 317.7 USD/tonne, an increase of 75% in volume, up by 49.4% in value but down by 14.6% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023. China still led list of the country’s major fertilizer import markets, accounting for 46.5% of the total volume and accounting for 33% of the country's total fertilizer import turnover, reaching 659,463 tonnes, equivalent to 167.29 million USD, the average price was 253.7 USD/tonne, up by 37.7% in volume, up by 0.8% in turnover but down by 26.8% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
The next was the Russian market, accounting for 15.2% of the total volume and 22.9% of the total turnover, with 241,950 tonnes, equivalent to 115.69 million USD, the average price was 478.2 USD/tonne, increased by 684% in volume, increased by 563.7% in turnover but decreased by 15.4% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
Fertilizer imports from the Southeast Asian market reached 163,218 tonnes, equivalent to 51.75 million USD, up by 36.4% in volume, up by 3% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for over 10% of total volume and total value of fertilizer imports of the whole country.
Fertilizer imports from the FTA RCEP market reached nearly 1.01 million tonnes, equivalent to 259.02 million USD, up by 35% in volume, up by 2.9% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 63.3% of the total volume and for 51.3% of the country's total fertilizer import turnover.
Fertilizer imports from the FTA CPTTP market reached 236,087 tonnes, equivalent to 50.29 million USD, an increase of 92.4% in volume, an increase of 161% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 14.8% of the total volume and accounting for 10 % of the country's total fertilizer import turnover.
