Dong Cuu - Royal robe embroidery village in Hanoi
Monday, February 5,2024AsemconnectVietnam - Dong Cuu - the only royal robe embroidery village - was among the most enticing spaces for domestic and international visitors at a recent exhibition showcasing various craft villages in Hanoi.
Artisan Le Thi Xuan showcased her embroidery products made from a diverse range of materials, including bags, towels, and traditional items, at the exhibition. Her intention was to collect valuable feedback from the public, enabling her to meet customer demand.
Dong Cuu village in Dung Tien commune in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thuong Tin has long been famous for its traditional embroidery, especially the making of royal robes for emperors from Vietnam’s feudal dynasties. Each robe like this may cost up to 30 million VND (over 1,200 USD).
To develop the craft’s essence, raw material areas have been planned and given priority, to promote product designs at craft villages. This strategic direction aims to facilitate the exports of village products./.
