Import of plastic materials in 11 months of 2023 reached over 8.95 billion USD
Wednesday, January 10,2024AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 11 months of 2023, imports of plastic raw materials reached 6.24 million ton, equivalent to over USD 8.95 billion, with an average price of 1,435.8 USD/ton.
According to statistics from General Department of Customs, import turnover of plastic materials into Vietnam in November 2023 decreased slightly by 0.5% in volume but increased by 2% in turnover and increased by 2.6% in price comparing to the previous year. In October 2023, it reached 634,523 ton, equivalent to 899.57 million USD, average price 1,417.7 USD/ton; Comparing to November 2022, it increased by 6.3% in volume but decreased by 4.3% in turnover and decreased by 10% in price.
Overall, in the entire 11 months of 2023, imports of this group of goods reached 6.24 million ton, equivalent to over 8.95 billion USD, average price of 1,435.8 USD/ton, down 6.4% in volume, down 23,3% in turnover and decrease 18% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2022.
China is the largest market supplying plastic materials to Vietnam, accounting for 19.6% of the total volume and 22.3% of the country's total import turnover of plastic materials, reaching 1.22 million tons, equivalent to nearly 2 billion USD, average price 1,637.6 USD/ton, up 8.1% in volume, but down 11.8% in turnover and down 18.4% in price comparing to the same period in 2022.
Korea is the second largest market, accounting for 19.9% of the total volume and 20.2% of the total turnover, reaching 1.24 million tons, equivalent to 1.8 billion USD, average price of 1,455.9 USD /ton, down 19.2% in volume, 29.8% in turnover and 13% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2022.
Next is the Southeast Asian market with 958,822 tons, worth 1.27 billion USD, average price 1,324.2 USD/ton, accounting for 15.4% of total volume and 14.2% of total turnover, compared for the first 11 months of 2022, down 13.8% in volume, 29.7% in turnover and 18.5% in price.
Imports of plastic materials imported from the Taiwan market also decreased in both volume, turnover and price compared to the same period last year, with decreases of 8.6%, 32.6% and 26.3% respectively, reaching 634,001 tons, equivalent to 976.05 million USD, price 1,539.5 USD/ton.
