Seafood exports reached nearly 8.23 billion USD in 11 months of 2023
Friday, December 29,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam’s exports of seafood products reached nearly 8.23 billion USD, down by 19% compared to the same period of 2022.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of seafood products in November of 2023 decreased by 6% compared to October of 2023 but increased slightly by 0.13% compared to November of 2022, reaching over 790, 36 million USD.
Overall, in the first 11 months of 2023, the country’s exports of this product group reached nearly 8.23 billion USD, down by 19% compared to the same period of 2022. Particularly, seafood exports of enterprises with foreign investment (FDI) accounted for 9. 6% of the country's total export turnover of this product group, reaching 789.19 million USD, down by 8%.
Seafood exported the most to the US market, accounted for 17.6% of the country's total export turnover of this product group, reaching nearly 1.45 billion USD, a sharp decrease of 28.9% over the same period of 2022. In November of 2023 alone, the country’s exports of seafood to the U.S reached 131.44 million USD, down by 9.3% compared to October of 2023 but up by 11.6% compared to November of 2022.
Japan ranked second in turnover, accounting for 16.9%, reaching over 1.39 billion USD, down by 11.9%. In November of 2023 alone, the exports to this market reached 144.68 million USD, up by 0.5% compared to October of 2023 but down by 4.9% compared to November of 2022.
The next was the Chinese market. In November of 2023, the country’s exports of seafood to China decreased by 19.8% compared to October of 2023 and decreased by 14.6% compared to November of 2022, reaching 106.4 million USD. Totally in the entire 11 months of 2023, the country’s exports to this market decreased by 15% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching nearly 1.25 billion USD, accounting for 15.2% of the total turnover.
Seafood exports to the FTA RCEP market in the first 11 months of 2023 decreased by 14.2% compared to the first 11 months of 2022, reaching 4.28 billion USD; The exports to the FTA CPTTP market decreased by 16.9%, reaching 2.21 billion USD. Seafood exports to the EU market accounted for 9.6% of the country's total seafood export turnover, reaching over 69.67 million USD, down by 30.6%. The exports to the Southeast Asian market accounted for 7.5% of total turnover, reaching nearly 618.92 million USD, down by 12%.
