 Thursday, December 7,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam's coffee exports were estimated to reach approximately 1.38 million tonnes, worth of 3.54 billion USD, decreasing in both volume and value compared to the same period last year.

The Import-Export Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs as saying that it is estimated that Vietnam's coffee exports in November of 2023 reached 80,000 tonnes, worth of 252 million USD, an increase of 830% in volume and an increase of 59.9% in value compared to October of 2023, a decrease of 37.9% in volume and a decrease of 17.5% in value compared to November of 2022.
In the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam's coffee exports were estimated to reach approximately 1.38 million tonnes, worth of 3.54 billion USD, down by 12.9% in volume and 2.5% in value compared to the same period last year.
It is estimated that in November of 2023, Vietnam's average coffee export price reached 3,148 USD/tonne, down by 12.6% compared to November of 2023, but up by 32.8% compared to November of 2022.
Totally in the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam's average coffee export price was estimated to reach 2,570 USD/tonne, an increase of 11.9% over the same period of 2022.
While Robusta and Arabica coffee exports decreased over the same period in 2022, Excelsa and processed coffee exports increased.
Notably, Vietnam's Robusta coffee exports to most traditional markets decreased, but exports to Mexico, the Netherlands, Indonesia, etc. increased sharply.
With Arabica coffee, Vietnam currently mainly exports Arabica coffee to the markets of Belgium, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, and Thailand.
In November of 2023, while Robusta coffee prices in the domestic market decreased, in the world market, Robusta and Arabica coffee prices increased sharply due to concerns about supply shortages.
According to a report by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the supply of Robusta coffee to the global consumer market comes from the main producing countries in Southeast Asia. The possibility of a decrease has prompted funds and speculation to return to the futures market to increase buying, however, the volume is not much due to caution from the issue of monetary interest rates.
In Vietnam, FAS estimates that crop production in 2023/2024 will decrease to 27.8 million bags from an estimated 31.3 million bags in May of 2023 due to unfavorable weather.
