United States - Vietnam's largest export market

According to the latest preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, by the end of October, Vietnam's export turnover to the United States reached 79.25 billion USD.
Although the above results decreased by more than 15% compared to the same period last year (the same period in 2022 the figure reached 93.4 billion USD), the United States still maintained its position as Vietnam's largest export market with a proportion of 27.2% of the country's turnover.
By the end of October, there were 11 groups of goods exported to the United States with a turnover of 1 billion USD or more, of which 3 groups reached 10 billion USD or more.
Leading the way is machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with 14.69 billion USD; followed by computers, electronic products and components reaching 13.5 billion USD; textile and garment reached more than 12 billion USD.
With 40.19 billion USD, the three largest product groups alone accounted for nearly 51% of Vietnam's export turnover to the US market.
In addition to the three "tens of billions of dollars" product groups, by the end of October there were other large product groups such as phones and components; Footwear; wood and wood products, etc.
On the contrary, the imports from the US market in the past 10 months reached 11.34 billion USD, down by 8% compared to the same period last year (the same period last year the figure reached 12.32 billion USD).
Computers, electronic products and components were the largest group of imported goods from the United States with a turnover of 2.97 billion USD, this is also the only "billion dollar" group of goods as of the end of October.
In addition, there were many groups of goods imported from the United States with a turnover of hundreds of millions of dollars, such as cotton; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts; scrap iron and steel; Animal feed and raw materials, etc.
By the end of October, the total trade turnover between Vietnam and the United States reached 90.59 billion USD. This is Vietnam's second largest trading partner (after China).
