Vietnam imported over 8 million m3 of petroleum in first 9 months
Tuesday, October 17,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 9 months of the year, Vietnam imported more than 8 million m3 of petroleum, equivalent to 6.65 billion USD, up by 23.1% in volume but down by 2.4% in value compared to the same period of 2022.
The latest data from the General Department of Customs showed that in September of this year, Vietnam imported more than 826,319 m3 of petroleum, reaching 783 million USD, down by 24.7% in volume and 21% in value compared to August. In comparison to the same period of 2022, petroleum imports to Vietnam this month still increased by 31.5% in volume and 27% in value.
Imported gasoline prices were September reached 948 USD/m3, up by 4.8% compared to August but down by 2.4% compared to September of 2022. This is also the 4th consecutive month that imported gasoline prices have increased and reached their highest level since the beginning of this year.
In the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam imported more than 8 million m3 of petroleum, equivalent to 6.65 billion USD, up by 23.1% in volume but down by 2.4% in value compared to the same period of 2022.
The average imported gasoline price in the first 9 months of the year was 829 USD/m3, down by 20.7% over the same period of 2022.
In the first 9 months of this year, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia were the three main petroleum suppliers to Vietnam, accounting for more than 81% of Vietnam's total petroleum imports.
In September of this year, Vietnam imported 355,540 m3 of petroleum from South Korea, worth of more than 333 million USD, an increase of 83% in volume and 66% in turnover.
In the first 9 months of this year, Vietnam spent over 2.7 billion USD to import 3.3 million m3 of petroleum, an increase of 29.1% in volume but a decrease of 1.6% in value compared to the same period of 2022.
The amount of goods purchased from South Korea accounted for 41.1% of Vietnam's total petroleum imports in the first 9 months of the year. The average price of imported gasoline from South Korea reached 818 USD/m3, down by 23.7% over the same period of 2022.
Standing in second place, in 9 months, Singapore has provided Vietnam with 1.8 million m3 of petroleum, equivalent to more than 1.5 billion USD, an increase of 91.6% in volume and 57% in value compared to the same period of 2022. This is the highest increase among markets. The amount of goods purchased from Singapore accounted for 22.7% of Vietnam's total petroleum imports in the first 9 months of the year.
The market ranked third in Vietnam's petroleum import structure was Malaysia with 1.4 million m3, worth of 1.1 billion USD, an increase of 47.6% in volume and 29% in turnover compared to the same period last year. Malaysia accounted for 17.5% of Vietnam's petroleum import market structure in the first 9 months of the year.
