Cashew exports recorded double-digit growth in first 9 months of 2023
Friday, October 6,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam’s cashew exports earned 2.6 billion USD and recorded double-digit growth compared to the same period last year.
The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited data from the General Department of Customs as saying that Vietnam's cashew nut exports in September of 2023 were estimated to reach 60,000 tonnes, worth of 328 million USD, down by 1.0% in quantity and a decrease of 1.6% in value compared to August of 2023, but an increase of 56% in volume and an increase of 39.6% in value compared to September of 2022.
In the first 9 months of 2023, our country's cashew exports werer estimated to reach 456,000 tonnes, worth of 2.6 billion USD, up by 19.6% in volume and 14.3% in value over the same period last year.
It is estimated that Vietnam's average cashew export price in September of 2023 reached 5,474 USD/tonne, down by 0.7% compared to August of 2023 and down by 10.5% compared to September of 2022.
Totally in the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam's average cashew export price reached 5,722 USD/tonne, down by 4.5% over the same period last year.
In the first 9 months of 2023, cashew exports recorded double-digit growth compared to the same period last year.
Regarding types of cashew nuts, in the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam mainly exports W320, W240, and W180 cashew nuts, accounting for 63.55% of the total volume and 70.0% of the country's total export turnover. Therefore, the export growth of the above types of cashew nuts has had a positive impact on the entire industry.
In particular, in August of 2023, our country's W320 cashew exports reached 27,150 tonnes, worth of 162.51 million USD, increasing 9.6% in volume and value compared to July of 2023. In comparison to August of 2022, the figure increased by 35.1% in volume and 27.2% in value.
In the first 8 months of 2023, W320 cashew exports reached 167,650 tonnes, worth of 1.03 billion USD, up by 18.6% in volume and by 10.7% in value compared to the same period last year.
In August of 2023, the exports of W240 cashew nuts increased by 7.2% in volume and 5.5% in value compared to July of 2023, reaching 8,480 tonnes, worth of 51.57 million USD. In comparison to August of 2022, the figure increased by 54.1% in volume and 34.8% in value.
In the first 8 months of 2023, W240 cashew exports reached 58.35 thousand tons, worth 380.28 million USD, up 21.5% in volume and 14.2% in value compared to the same period last year. .
Since August 2023, Vietnam's cashew exports to the US market have increased sharply again. Vietnam's cashew industry has great expectations after the visit of US President Joe Biden to Vietnam on September 10 - 11.
In addition, cashew nut exports to the Chinese market recorded high growth rates, which will contribute to the overall export growth rate.
According to cyclical factors, Vietnam's cashew export activities will be vibrant in the last months of the year. It is forecasted that the demand for cashew nuts for holidays will increase sharply.
