Import-export turnover reached 60 billion USD/month for first time in 2023
Wednesday, September 13,2023AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s import-export turnover in August of this year had many improvements and reached the milestone of 60 billion USD/month for the first time in 2023.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in August of this year, Vietnam's total import-export turnover of goods reached 62.08 billion USD, an increase of 8.8% compared to the previous month (corresponding to an increase of 5.01 billion USD).
Of which, the country’s total exports reached 32.76 billion USD, an increase of 9% (equivalent to an increase of 2.69 billion USD) and imports reached 29.32 billion USD, an increase of 8.6% (equivalent to an increase of 2.32 billion USD).
Thus, this is the first month from the beginning of 2023, the country's import-export turnover reached the milestone of 60 billion USD/month.
In the previous 7 months, import and export were at more than 50 billion USD/month, even in January and February the figure did not reach 50 billion USD/month.
The results achieved in August brought the country's total import-export turnover in the first 8 months of the year to 436.44 billion USD. However, this result was still down by 12.8%, equivalent to a decrease of 64.21 billion USD compared to the same period of 2022.
In the first 8 months of the year, the total exports reached 228.17 billion USD, down by 9.8% (equivalent to a decrease of 24.79 billion USD) and imports reached 208.27 billion USD, down by 15.9% (equivalent to a decrease of 39.42 billion USD).
Thus, in August of this year, the country had a trade surplus of 3.44 billion USD and in the first 8 months of the year, Vietnam had a trade surplus of 19.9 billion USD.
