AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area remained unchanged to VND64,500 – VND65,400 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND65,400/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND64,500/kg. Robusta coffee remained unchanged at VND64,500/kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; at VND65,200 – VND65,300 per kg in Dak Lak; at VND65,400- VND65,500 in Dak Nong; at VND64,900 per kg in Kon Tum, and at VND64,800 - VND64,900 per kg in Gia Lai.
According to data from the Crop Production Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the total coffee area of Vietnam by the end of 2022 will reach 710.66 thousand hectares. Vietnamese coffee is grown in 19 provinces across the country but mainly concentrated in 5 provinces of the Central Highlands, accounting for 91.2% of the total area of the country.
Compared with other coffee producing countries in the world, Vietnam’s coffee area is only sixth after other countries: Brazil with a total area of nearly 1.9 million hectares, Indonesia with a total area of over 1.2 million hectares, and Ethiopia over 800 thousand hectares, Ivory Coast nearly 800 thousand hectares.
Up to now, Vietnamese coffee products have been present in 37 major markets, of which 27 markets have reached over 10 million USD, especially 8 markets have reached over 100 million USD. In 2023, it is forecast that Vietnam’s coffee exports will reach a new record of 4.2 billion USD. Vietnam’s coffee industry is aiming for an export turnover of 6 billion USD by 2030.
Besides advantages, this item also faces difficulties when domestic supply decreases. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam’s coffee output in the 2022-2023 crop year decreased by 6% compared to the previous crop year, to 29.7 million bags (60kg/bag). This is the lowest output level in the past 4 years, due to higher production costs (labor, fertilizer), farmers tend to switch to more profitable crops such as avocado, durian, passion fruit.
