Fruit and vegetable exports to China increased by 128.5%
Tuesday, August 29,2023AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports to the Chinese market have prospered in the context that the country's overall exports are still bleak.
According to the General Department of Customs, in July of this year, Vietnam’s exports of goods to China reached nearly 4.6 billion USD, up by 16.75% over the same period last year.
The results achieved in July brought the total export turnover to China in the first 7 months of the year to 30.84 billion USD, up by 2.4% over the same period last year.
Although the growth rate is not high, this is a very remarkable number in the context of the country's overall export decline.
By the end of July, there were 8 groups of goods exported to China with a value of 1 billion USD or more. The two leading commodity groups related to electronics were: computers, electronic products and components; phones and components with a turnover of 7.55 billion USD and 7.2 billion USD, respectively.
Notably, vegetables and fruits have impressive growth to enter the "billion dollar" export group. By the end of July, vegetable and fruit exports to China reached nearly 2 billion USD, up by 128.5 % over the same period last year (the figure of the same period last year reached 872.7 million USD).
Some other export commodity groups had impressive growth such as: rice reached 413 million USD, up by 70.3%; cashew nuts reached more than 300 million USD, up by 33.3%.
Currently, China is Vietnam's second largest export market (after the United States), in the first seven months of the year China accounted for 15.78% of the country's total export turnover.
