Tuesday, August 29,2023AsemconnectVietnam - Asia is the largest trade partner of Vietnam, accounting for up to 64.6% of the country’s total trade turnover.
According to the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of this year, the import and export between Vietnam and Asian markets reached approximately 242 billion USD (reaching 241.84 billion USD), accounting for the largest proportion of 64.6% in the total import and export turnover of the country.
However, the above results decreased by 13.5% compared to the same period last year.
In Asia, the three largest trading partners of Vietnam are China, South Korea and Japan.
In particular, China is Vietnam's largest trading partner both in Asia and around the world. In the first 7 months of the year, the Chinese market alone accounted for nearly 36.9% of the total turnover between Vietnam and Asia, while this proportion with all partners in the world was 23.8%.
South Korea was the second largest trading partner of Vietnam in Asia (and the third in the world) with a share of 17.2% of the total trade turnover of Vietnam with the markets in the continent and over 11.1% of the total trade turnover of Vietnam with the markets in the world.
Japan is Vietnam's third largest trading partner in Asia (and fourth worldwide) with indexes of 10.32% and 6.66% respectively.
With other continents, Vietnam's trade with the Americas reached US$76.47 billion, accounting for 20.4% of the country's total turnover, down 18.7% over the same period last year.
Europe followed with 42.06 billion USD, accounting for 11.2%, down 7.4%; Oceania with 8.97 billion USD, accounting for 2.4%, down 15.2%; Africa with 5.02 billion USD, accounting for 1.3%, up 4.8%.
Thus, in the 5 continents, besides Africa, the 4 regions with the largest trade relations of Vietnam all saw a sharp decrease in turnover compared to the same period in 2022.
