Vietnam’s exports and imports of fertilizer in July and first 7 months of 2023
Friday, August 25,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 7 months of 2023, Vietnam exported 942,576 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to 391.05 million USD, with an average price of 414.9 USD/tonne.
Also in the first 7 months of 2023, Vietnam's imported fertilizer volume reached nearly 2.01 million tonnes, worth of over 674.81 million USD, the average price reached 336.3 USD/tonne.
Vietnam’s exports of fertilizer in July and the first 7 months of 2023
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of 2023, the whole country exported 942,576 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to 391.05 million USD, the average price was 414.9 USD/tonne, down by 15% in volume, down by 45.8% in turnover and 36.2% in price over the same period of 2022.
Particularly in July of 2023, the country exported 141,006 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds worth of 54.66 million USD, priced at 387.6 USD/tonne, up by 30.6% in volume, up by 17% in turnover but down by 10.4% in price compared to June of 2023. In comparison to July of 2022, it also increased by 25.5% in volume, but decreased by 27.2% in turnover and decreased by 42% in price.
Leading fertilizer export markets in July and the first 7 months of 2023
Vietnam's fertilizer exports were mainly to Cambodia, which alone accounted for over 36% of the country's total fertilizer export volume and turnover, reaching 341,219 tonnes, equivalent to 142.59 million USD, the average price was 417.9 USD/tonne, an increase of 15.2% in volume but a decrease of 10.9% in turnover and a decrease in price of 22.6% compared to the same period of 2022. Particularly in July of 2023, the exports to Cambodia reached 49,733 tonnes, equivalent to 19.69 million USD, the average price was 395.9 USD/tonne, down by 21.2% in volume and 27.2% in turnover, the price decreased by 7.6% compared to June of 2023.
Behind Cambodia's main market was Malaysia with 56,824 tonnes, equivalent to 18.45 million USD, the average price is 324.6 USD/tonne, down by 38% in volume, down by 59.2% in turnover and down by 34.5% in price, accounting for 6% of the total volume and 4.7% of the total fertilizer export turnover of the country.
The exports to the South Korean market reached 48,484 tonnes, equivalent to 17.93 million USD, the average price was 369.9 USD/tonne, a sharp decrease of 41.2% in volume, 71% decrease in turnover and 50.8% decrease in price, accounting for 5.1% of the total volume and 4.6% of the total turnover.
Meanwhile, the exports to RCEP FTA markets reached 541,390 tonnes, equivalent to 223 million USD, down by 16.2% in volume, down by 42.5% in turnover. Te exports to CPTTP FTA markets reached 60,508 tonnes, equivalent to 20.13 million USD, down by 42.9% in volume, down by 63.2% in turnover. And the export to the Southeast Asian market reached 489,222 tonnes, equivalent to 203.38 million USD, down by 11% in volume, down by 35.7% in turnover.
Vietnam’s fertilizer imports increased in July and the first 7 months of 2023
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in July of 2023, the whole country imported 306,179 tonnes of fertilizer, equivalent to 86.43 million USD, the average price was 282.3 USD/tonne, down by 26.2% in volume, down by 34.2% in turnover and by 10.7% in price compared to June of 2023. In comparison to July of 2022, it increased sharply by 81.5% in volume, increased by 29.5% in turnover but decreased by 28.7% in price.
Leading fertilizer import markets in July and the first 7 months of 2023
In July of 2023, fertilizer imports from China's main market decreased by 12.9% in volume, 22.2% in turnover and 10.6% in price compared to June of 2023, reaching 193,361 tonnes, equivalent to 50.34 million USD, priced at 260.3 USD/tonne. In comparison to July of 2022, it increased by 79.6% in volume, increased by 19.5% in turnover but decreased by 33.5% in price. The imports from Laos market in July of 2023 increased by 48.2% in volume, up by 15.9% in turnover but decreased by 21.8% in price compared to June of 2023, reaching 33,311 tonnes, equivalent to over 10.15 million USD, price of 304.8 USD/tonne. In comparison with July of 2022, it increased sharply by 761.2% in volume, increased by 273.3 % in turnover but sharply decreased by 56.7% in price.
Generally, in the first 7 months of 2023, the country's imported fertilizer amount reached nearly 2.01 million tonnes, worth of over 674.81 million USD, the average price reached 336.3 USD/tonne, up by 2.8% in volume, but down by 26.3% in value and by 28.3% in price compared to the first seven months of 2022. China was still the leading market for supplying fertilizer to Vietnam, accounting for 52.2% of the total volume and accounted for 48% of the country's total fertilizer import turnover, reaching 1.05 million tonnes, equivalent to 324.17 million USD, the average price was 309.6 USD/tonne, up by 10.6% in volume, but down by 16.5% in turnover and 24.5% in price compared to 7 months of 2022.
Laos market ranked second, accounting for 7% of the total volume and 7.8% of the total turnover, with 140,647 tonnes, equivalent to 52.76 million USD, the average price was at 375.1 USD/tonne, an increase of 67.8% in volume, up by 8.6% in turnover but down by 35.3% in price compared to 7 months of 2022.
Fertilizer imports from Southeast Asia market reached 268,701 tonnes, equivalent to 102.26 million USD, up by 70.5% in volume, up by 4.1% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 13.4% of the total volume and accounted for 15.2% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country.
Fertilizers imported from the FTA RCEP markets reached 1.58 million tonnes, equivalent to 485.04 million USD, up by 11.9% in volume, down by 15.9% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 78.8% in total volume and accounted for 71.9% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country.
Fertilizer imports from the FTA CPTTP markets reached 228,908 tonnes, equivalent to 34.94 million USD, down by 24.9% in volume, down by 63.9% in turnover over the same period last year, accounting for 11.4% of the total and accounting for 5.2% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country.
