Vietnam’s rice exports in first 7 months of 2023
Tuesday, August 15,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 7 months of 2023, the whole country exported over 4.89 million tonnes of rice, equivalent to nearly 2.62 billion USD, up by 20.1% in volume, up by 31.4% in turnover compared to 7 months of 2022.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in July of 2023, the whole country exported 660,738 tonnes of rice, equivalent to 362.66 million USD, the average price was 548.9 USD/tonne, up by 6.9% in volume and increased by 6.4% in turnover but decreased slightly by 0.5% in price compared to June of 2023. In comparison with July of 2022, the figure also increased by 13.6% in volume, 27.3% in turnover and 12% in price.
In July of 2023, rice exports to the Philippines' main market increased sharply by 45.9% in volume and 51.4% in turnover and 3.8% in price compared to June of 2023, reaching 242,847 tonnes, equivalent to 129.14 million USD, the price was 531.8 USD/tonne; but decreased by 31.5% in volume, 22.1% in turnover, but increased by 13.6% in price compared to July of 2022.
Rice exports to the Chinese market in July of 2023 decreased by 7% in volume and decreased by 12.5% in turnover compared to June of 2023, reaching 41,787 tonnes, equivalent to 23.15 million USD. In comparison with July of 2022, it increased by 51.3% in volume and 59.3% in turnover.
For the whole 7 months of 2023, the country's rice exports reached over 4.89 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 2.62 billion USD, up by 20.1% in volume, up by 31.4% in turnover compared to the first 7 months of 2022, the average price reached 534.7 USD/tonne, up by 9.4%.
The Philippines still ranked first in Vietnam's rice consumption, accounting for 39.6% of the total volume and 37.6% of the country's total rice exports, reaching nearly 1.94 million tonnes, equivalent to 984.9 million USD, the average price was 508.3 USD/tonne, down by 2.1% in volume, but up by 6.5% in turnover and 8.8% in price compared to 7 months of 2022.
It was followed by the Chinese market, accounted for 14.7% of the total volume and accounted for 15.8% of the total turnover, reaching 718,654 tonnes, equivalent to 413.47 million USD, the average price was 575.3 USD /tonne, up strongly by 54.1% in volume and 70.3% increase in turnover; prices increased by 10.5% compared to 7 months of 2022.
The Indonesian market ranked third with 602,667 tonnes, equivalent to 299.4 million USD, the price was at 496.8 per tonne, a sharp increase of 1,504% in volume, an increase of 1,530% in turnover and a slight increase of 1.6% in price compared to the first 7 months of 2022, accounting for 12.3% of the total volume and 11.4% of the total rice export turnover of the country.
The exports to RCEP FTA markets reached 3.58 million tonnes, equivalent to 1.87 billion USD, up by 27.4% in volume, up by 38.5% in turnover. The exports to FTA markets CPTTP reached 332,213 tonnes, equivalent to 174.04 million USD, up by 0.2% in volume, up by 6.4% in turnover. The exports to the Southeast Asian market reached 2.85 million tonnes, equivalent to 1.44 billion USD, up by 22.5% in volume, up by 32.2% in turnover.
